I don't have any suggestions, but I would like to say that your hair is beautiful. Keep doing what you're doing.

Maybe Bublnbrnsuga can help you - you both seem to have the same texture and hair length.

I love your hair too. What is your regime?

Have you tried doing styles with cornrows? I have so many pictures on my computer of styles I like, but some of the files are too large and I don't know how to resize the pictures.....These are some pictures that I could upload. I hope this helps.

I've thought about conrows, but in the past... they didn't look good one me.

Dahomey: Thanks for the compliment :D

Carefree: I stalk your album periodically. ;) Very pretty! I have tried reworking my twists... I've put them in updo's, bantuknots, ponytails, buns, outs...

Ultra: Thanks babe!

I don't have any suggestions, I am in a styling rut as well...but I gotta tell ya, your hair is beautiful!

My personal favorite... box braids. You can do lots of style variations with box braids. (up, down, bun, ponytails, etc). Or if you like it better short you can always go that route. No matter what you do, your hair is still GORGEOUS and will continue to be inspirational to me! :)

I would dance until I dropped if I had your hair:grin: . Beautiful!!!!!!! Sorry, I know that's not where you're going with this but your hair is gorgeous!!!!!!!! Damn girl, NICE.

Yep! Your hair is definitely beautiful. Even though your hair is long, have you ever thought about doing braid or kinky twist extensions? Maybe you just need a break from styling your own hair. The break might inspire you creatively. When my hair is longer, I like to box braid about a third to a half of the way, then leave the rest free. Afterwards, I wet my hair (Daily Doctor is good for this step) and twirl each free end into a spiral curl. Folks always love this style.

Another thing I like to do is cornrow up to a common point: the back of my head, the top, the crown, whatever. I then leave a little puff area free. I can wear it froed out, comb coil it, two strand twist it, finger twist, whatever.

I'm not a big fan of flat twists but on occassion I will flat twist the front and then wear the back puffed out.

Buy some new silk scarves (or similar material) and use them as new loose head bands. Use them to spark up your buns.

Flat twist or cornrow four big braids and leave the ends in the back free for a modernized shag (from the shell toe/run dmc era)

Pull your fro to one side and bun it with a flower.

Pull your box braids or twists into equal groups of four and finish each area with a bun.

Bantu your hair very small and thin for a close cropped look again.

Highlight your hair with one of the wash out mousse kits like color pulse. Just highlight a few areas.

Just a few suggestions. If I can think of anything else I'll edit.

HTH!

since u mentioned u did more when it was shorter..how about letting it purposely shrink as much as possible and wearing ur favorite 'do?? cuz other than that it will always be a repeat unless u shave it off

Have you tried the fake short hair style jetblackkinks used to wear? If you'd like to wear a short style you could go with that. Your hair is gorgeous by the way.

Thanks everyone for your help. I really appreciate all the wonderful feedback.
Patient: That is a lot of ideas, most of which I never even heard before. Thank You!

Your hair is awesome! It looks kinda like mine- we could be twins/cousins. So yeah, I know exactly where you're coming from. I'm similarly in a rut as far as styling-it's hard because I'm really lazy when it comes to my hair but hate walking around looking like a hot mess. I had to put my hair in braids because I was getting tired of all the work it takes to detangle and style into tiny twists and tiny braids. Not advising that this is a good thing but I think I'm going to get back into some more heat styles (presses, blowouts, blowdrying etc) so I can show a bit of length on a semi regular basis (like once a month). I'm also thinking about rod/straw/spiral sets- I've never tried it but I think it'd be cool.

Your hair is beautiful! Very healthy, I don't think you should put in any chemicals because your texture is so lush. I think that maybe weaves or braids may help you if your in a style rut. I regret the day I texturized, not that it's hard to handle but because I now know so much I think that I can handle my natural hair, I miss my natural texture...I guess it's the grass is always greener scenario:look:

Hey Dee:

I hope you can do some of those styles and then send us pics. I was reading about your scalp condition and wanted to see how this thread came along.

OT: I have hair clients with similar conditions. I think one of the folks on here gave you the diagnosis your derm will give you. One of my clients was oiling his scalp with a product that helped. It's basically like adult cradle cap. Nothing to be ashamed of. Let me know if your derm suggests that you go without oiling your scalp for a bit OR the converse. I'm interested.

Good luck!!!

I don't know how you feel about wearing your hair straight, but how about going straight for awhile, a Dominican blow-outs, presses, or a good old ceramic flat iron to wear it out straight. :look: HTH

I am in a style rut also. Since I have a lil length now I am thinking of getting flatironed, pressed or possibly a dominican blowout (don't know if they can work natural hair). I am so afraid of heat damage though:confused: . Has anyone had success in hair snapping right back after applying heat to all natural? Who has had a dom blowout success with natural hair?

I just gave my cousin a Dom. blowout last night for the first time she normally gets a press and curl (either w/the Maxiglide only or hot comb and curling irons) every 3wks and her hair goes right back to it's natural state w/o a problem. The part that has lost some of it's curl pattern is the section that I dyed in sept., other than that she has no problems and her hair texture is I think 3a or b it has big waves in it, looks like wet n wavey hair weave, she doesn't suffer from breakage, shedding or heat damage. It may depend on how much your hair can take and making sure not to over heat the comb/flatiron or whatever heat appliance you choose. HTH
