What should my hair priorities be?

I have a question or 3 for you all. I am new to LHCF and I am having a lil problem deciding what my priorities should be, in regard to taking the best care of my hair from this time forward and getting the most length and strength possible.

Any light that you can shed on this will be greatly appreciated.

  • Should I be focusing on getting a regimen together?
  • Should I be focusing on finding the right vitamins?
  • Should I be focusing on finding the “right” products for my hair?

Hey and welcome!!

I think the bolded ones go hand in hand. Vitamins? Take a daily and like PT said, keep it simple.

I think for me, addressing my problems helps first. Everything else fell in to place. Like I had a problem with dryness. Working on deep conditioning and finding good moisturizers got the ball rolling.

Good luck!!

PT provided a GREAT resource for how to start a hair care journey.

I would say do #1 and #3 together first, then worry about #2. The amount of growth you get from vitamins is irrelevant if you don't have the products and know-how to retain the growth. Find products that work for your hair and develop a regimen that your hair likes. You could start simple with shampoo/DCing once each week then go up or down depending on your hair's needs. You can add a clarifying poo, a daily moisturizer, and a leave-in as well. Your regimen really doesn't have to be complicated...unless you allow your PJism to grow unchecked.

HHG & welcome to the board!

Welcome! :)

If I were you, your first priority should be to learn as much as possible from this board. You can check out different people's albums on fotki to see what products they use, their hair stypes, hair lengths, and regimens. Sometimes it helps to find people who are similar to you so that maybe you can take a hint as to what they are doing and if it might work for you as well.

Just try to avoid bandwagons and becoming a product junkie because they are costly, time absorbing, and not everything works for everyone.
Vitamins are great if you can stick with them. Diet is important too in making sure you get enough protein, etc. But do what works for you.
