This is actually a question for my dh (he doesn't know I am asking) But he has a TWA and I am trying to take care of it and give it a deep black brilliant shine...

What to use?

If you pick other, please specify what you do to get the hair to bling:cool:

I like olive oil...also tell him to make sure he drinks his water and gets a good intake of omega 3 and 6 in his diet.

I like wild growth oil.. it makes my hair shine like crazy.. I also like to top it off w/ a little bit of the Chi Silk Infusion if you can handle cones in your hair. It creates such a beautiful shine... if you look at the picture in my avatar, my hair is natural there but it had been flat ironed with a CHI Flat iron and WGO w/ a little bit of the Chi Silk Infusion.. It made my hair super straight and shiny when usually any other oil still would have made it dull and brittle looking.. it protected my hair a lot from the heat as well.. .

WGO works for me as well- I also chose other because I use pomade for shine also- (carol's daughter mimosa hair honey)

Hot 6 Oil and S-Curl gave my nappy hair more shine. I just bought these two products after not using them for a long time.

ETA: After seeing the poll on this thread, I'm going to have to try Coconut Oil.

I don't have 4a/b hair..... I hope you don't mind me answering. I'm big on shiny hair and I've tried a lot of things but what gives me the most awsome shine is coconut oil, wgo and Oyin's burnt sugar pomade. I was wow'd by the shine from these products.

Hey Ritzbitz78, for me WGO, whale sperm oil or avocado oil give me great shine. I used them according to availability. The last two are harder for me to find so i mostly use the wild growth hair oil. i find that it not only gives u shine but it s really good to keep your hair detangled if you apply it between the rows of your weave or cornrows. i find that even if you keep the braided hairstyle for a while, when i remove it, the wgo keeps my hair from matting too hehe cant stop a winner it s one of my staples:p ;)

not really a liquid oil but Ashas sun kissed pomade give the hair lots of shine. coconut oil is great as well when i used to use it.

Thankyou for all the replies!! This WGO, is it at Sally's or Walmart? And the coconut oil, should I use the one that is refined (also for cooking) or the one that is semisolid at room temperature?

The WGO is available at Sallys. You should get the coconut oil that is unrefined, it melts really easily when you rub it together in your hands. Try getting the coconut oil at a health food store.:)

Great thread. Thanks for getting it started. I love me some Castor Oil. I used coconut oil when I was relaxed and couldn't fiqure what all the hype was about. I may be tempted to try it now that I am all napputural.:D

I love castor oil. It give my hair wonderful softness and shine. I use the kind for constipation, the clear bottle. It does wonders for my hair.

I like to use coconut for shine and hot oil treatments. The castor I use while styling my hair and growth. Both give me shine. But coconut oil is much lighter- I love the light scent. The castor oil I think is good for winter.

Between Castor and Coconut, it depends on your mood and what you are using it for. Both give great shine.

coconut oil mixed with olive oil make a perfect blend of shine. The added bonus is , over time castor oil will add a rich dark depth he may be seeking.

I love coconut oil or castor oil for shine. It is so hot is Houston that mine stays in liquid form right now. Both of those oils are thicker than olive oil. If he needs somethine thinner you can actually put olive oil in a small spray bottle for him to use after his hair is washed or damp.
