What New Hair Techniques Would You Like To Learn in 2007?

Find some pretty natural styles that I can do, or someone to do them. I can twist my hair, but the pretty designs and pretty braids are out of my league.

I want to learn to trim my own hair and flat iron, which I can't seem to master. I cringe every time I go to a stylist for a trim.

I want to learn how to stretch my relaxers. I have one side that is much shorter and very uneven and I notice that it is the side I have trouble with when I am about 4-5 weeks post. My longer even side does not give me the same problems.

I am hoping to even and lengthen my hair out so that I might be able todeal with the different textures better.

How to rollerset my own hair and get a smooth set from root to tip. I can roller set other people's hair perfect but I have to do "cheat" rollersets on myself.

Self trimming- need to perfect this.

Braid-outs!- mine look like a HAM.

Donut Bun- I've seen tutorials but something is just not clicking with me, lol.

I'm haircare challenged so I have a lot to learn this year. The only thing I perfected was a wet wrap and I gave that up because my hair was thinning. So here is what I would like to learn.

1. Perfect a full head rollerset. (I was able to perfect the top of my head with the rest wrapped.
2. trim my hair
3. Braidouts/Twistouts-not sure how to secure my ends. Now they just unravel
4. How to handle my new growth/natural hair should I decide to transition
5. Bantu Knots-I LOVE how these come out on the other members but can't do one to save my life. :(

I would like to learn to:

Do a proper rollerset
Perfect my flat iron technique so that hair is bouncy like when my stylist does it
I will be henna-ing for the first time tomorrow. My mix is sitting as I type.

Oh man, what WOULDN'T i love to do?!?! I only wear my hair in a wash and go fro which was cute when I had a twa right after I did the BC but now it's starting to look like a HAM....my dad said I looked like junkie begging for change.

What I want:

-twists/twist-outs....I love how twist-out looks but I hated the way the twists looked on me the first time I tried them. I've been scared to do it ever since.
-flat iron my hair without damage
-Something cute for when I start my interviews for summer internships later in January.

I need to figure out something because I'm starting to pull at my ends and the edges of my hair....it's a bad, nervous habit I have when I'm stressed out and the holidays just make me so jittery!

*off to research flat iron options...

I desperately want to learn how to make a nice big juicy bun that stays put all day. You know, how it's one thing to be able to make a bun, but some ladies have the gorgeous large buns that look exquisite. :rosebud:

ETA: Supergirl has an amazing bun in her fotki with instructions, that helped me acheive a nice big bun! God still answers prayer!

You can try the Split Ender. It can be found at Walgreens for around $20-$30 depending on the sale. Or Icing for $7 if there is one available. It only cuts about 1/8-1/4 inch.

I would like to try Henna

I can think of 3 things off the top of my head that I would like to do or learn to do for 2007.

1. Henna
2. Pincurls
3. Rollersetting

I would love to learn how to do my own weave, Braid my own hair and make intricate buns. I have to wait until my hair gets longer of course but to get a phony in and make really interesting and stylish buns. Henna, I think I am going to do Henna in a couple of weeks. its seems so very complicated. Wait till my hair get long, my buns are going to be sharp.

ummmmmmm read up some more on this henna thing...the thread is too overwhelming with info so I think Im going to view general henna websites to get a feel for som things

I would like to try using castor oil on my fine hair to determine if my hair will have the appearance of being thicker...

I would really like to learn how to corn-row my own hair and twist it, too. I get new twists done every 4 weeks by a great natural hair stylist, but I can't afford it. I want and need to learn how to fend for myself when it comes to my hair. I'll probably ask some of my friends how to do these things and practice, practice, practice!!!
