I've been co washing for awhile now and for some reason i didnt ask this question before. how can you tell if its a good conditioner. i mean i know the basics: no silicones or mineral oil or sulfates and all that jazz but no ones ever talked about how your hair is suppose to feel hours later and what makes for a good one? could you please tell me or do people not give it a chance to see because we do SO much with our hair we dont give products a chance to stand alone?? :perplexed

Um....your hair should still feel good hours later! I still use cones, mineral oil, sulfates...all the bad stuff....I don't too much care if the product is making my hair feel nice, then kudos to it and I'll keep it! If a conditioner doesn't leave your hair feeling soft hours later, then it's not the right conditioner for you IMO.

I think making sure it has great or at least good ingredients in it. Like alot of the good penetrating proteins, oils, moisturizers and/or herbs. So you know that it's not the type of conditioner that just sit and coat and smoothe the hair, but rather it penetrates and temporarily strengthens/conditions the hair. And my number one measure of a conditioner is if I only loose a small amount of hair during the wash & blowdry process. I always compare the size of the hairball to when I condition with Aveda DR because this seems to work great for my hair. And also if the conditioner turns my hair soft and curly and easy to detangle, EVEN WHEN I rinse the conditioner out and comb my hair naked.
