stole pic from "ghetto ozone awards" thread.

My hair has been like this coming out of a salon before, but can anyone suggest a flat iron that will get it like this?

I think it's more about skill than anything.

I use a Sedu and my hair is relaxed but my hair never has that straight from the salon look. If I had someone else do it with the same flat iron and products, it would probably look HOT!

So, If you are good at styling your own hair, I would recommend the Sedu flat iron.:drunk:

I'm never able to get my hair that straight. I think you would have to use alot of heat to get hair that straight.

I use a Jibere Titanium it's a ceramic flat iron from Sally's. It's not my favorite but it does the job. It does take alot of heat but also try using a thermal spray and a tiny bit of pressing grease on your ends for you hair to look that way.

I agree with this...I have a Solia and a stove with 2 or 3 different irons and I get about the same results. You may have to work a little harder if you have alot of new growth.

I Have the Solia. It's crazy how that thing gets your hair bone straight!!!

The only way my hair has ever gotten this straight from a flatiron is at the salon...and she used marcel irons:look:

thank u ladies :) so im guessing a flat iron alone wont do this? i will need those curlers you put in the oven as well? maybe? ...:ohwell: ive heard great things about solia and FHI before. and im figuring the hair type also has something to do with it as well. the reason i asked is because if i can find the right one, i can start back doing my own hair at home again.

I agree. I think all flat irons have the capability to make hair really straight but it depends on the hair type and skill of the user. I own a sedu which I adore:heart2:lol. It usually gets my hair pretty straight so I no longer go to the salon.

A flat iron alone should work...If I wrap or mold my hair then sit under a hooded dryer then flat iron it it comes out like this. I can also blow dry and iron but wrapping makes it lay flatter. I only use the marcel irons if I want more curls. The Solia doesn't get hot enough for my hair. My hair would revert before I could finish flat ironing it.

^^^ OH NO! i cant stand when that happens. i have a rinky dink vidal sassoon flat iron (my cheap ***) and i then i started to only use it on my roots. i ws trying to sneak and see the name of the flat iron my stylist used  . but even after she straightens it, she goes back over my ends with the oven curlers, and my hair comes out like the pic. i just dont have skill with those overn curlers. i'll mess around and burn my hair out:nono:

you can get stick striaght results with a flat iron

i don't think hair type matters, it's a combination of technique, the products and the amount of proudct used

Its your technique more so than your choice of flat iron. I use a CHI and my results have gotten better as I've learned new techniques.

i think i have a pretty good technique, but believe you me, my flat iron sucks! for some reason or another the on that i have makes my hair break off more than ones i have used in the past. even when i change the temp up, its still the same. i will be looking around tho

I have a Sedu Revolution which I think is awesome! :yep: I don't have nearly as much breakage as when I used a CHI. I usually can get my hair sleek, sexy and straight with my Sedu by slowly passing through small (2" wide/.5-1" thick) sections of hair.

I was reading something re: the FHI ceramic iron today in two different sources: a website for curly hair, and the new issue of ESSENCE Magazine.

The Sedu works really well. I stopped going to the Dominicans 2 years ago after it came into my life! :love2:

I have a Vidal Sassoon Tourmaline iron. I use it at medium heat and part my hair in very small sections. Also, before I do that, I add keracare creme press to my ends. This gets it stick straight and keeps it that way until I do something else to it (i.e. tie it up at night, Caruso's etc...)

What has worked for me...

-Deep conditioning well
-small amounts of styling product.
-*stretching* my curls/kinks with a ceramic/ionic blow dryer. (Conair Ion Shine)
-*straightening*with a quality ceramic flatiron (T3)

Ditto....I can get my hair pretty straight myself with my own flat iron (chi of fhi), but it reverts quickly. When I had it done at the salon with the marcels, it would stay straight for a week until I washed it. I guess I need to improve my technique and experiment with products.
