Does anyone apply anything to their roots prior to flat ironing? I'm thinking of rollersetting and flat ironing my roots but I'd like my roots to remain relatively straight for at least 5 days, 7 max. The other day I blow dried and flat ironed my hair and it was the biggest waste of time, my roots kinked back up in like 2 days. My hair didn't have that flat iron sleekness to it :nono: When I went to the salon, their flat iron job got my hair bone straight with only 2 passes. I have a Solia at home.

I use Apex pressing oil - just a dab rubbed between my fingers.

Make sure to use very very very small sections; also, I learned from getting mine professionally flat ironed that she pulled the section straight/taut with her hands before passing the iron over that piece. Something else that works is to "tap the roots".

Thanks Dee-Licious. Are you still using this as your primary mode of transtioning? If so, how often are you doing this and does your hair stay mostly straight?
