What kind of boar bristle brush do you use?

I had a conair brush that lasted me for almost a year. I loved it, but it broke in half.

I purchased the Denman 100% boar bristle brush (I think a D82M) and I like it, but it is harder than I'd prefer. It softens up every day though. I hope that it isnt doing any damage.

What boar bristle brushes are you ladies using?

That's the one that costs a grip, right? Do you think that it has been performing like it's supposed to?

Yeah, it does cost a pretty penny, but it does the job for me. I've had it for yearsssssssss.

I bought my boar brush from Sally's. The bristles are really soft, I had to get use to it. Most of my brushes were always sooo hard but I knew I had to get rid of those types. I wanna try something nice and pricey but so far so good,:look:

I use the boar bristle brush from Sephora, although since I am now babying my hair I use it mostly on my daughters 3C natural hair.

I have a huge BBB that I bought at Sally's years, ago. It's very soft and I love it! I bought another one there, a few months ago, but the bristles are very hard.

Sally's has a Master Professional Brush made of boar and porcupine. Normally its 24.99/19.99 with a sally's card. They are on clearance for 9.99. It's also buy one get one free cuz of the red tag. :D

I notice from all the boar brushes I have bought for me, my daughter and step daughter. I got some from Dollar General and they are quite soft, from the local BS store, really soft too soft. I like my Phillips Classic-1 from Sallys it is medium to me, not hard but not too soft. Now my Step daughter loves the ones from Dollar General and I use a Conair Wood handle one from Conair.

i've got a wooden paddle boar brush. the hairs are soft and no more than half an inch long.

i only use it for smoothing and shining and love it. paid about $5 at the local bss and have had it about a year.

my son uses the harder bristles for his waves - same price, about $5.

Ill bet that you and I have the same one because the one I got from Sallys is really soft, too.:) I really like it, though.

I have a Spornette Caesar I got at Sally's for $7 or $8. I  my brush. It has soft bristles but it smooths so well. It just has a nice feel and form factor too. It's perfect, but they discontinued it. (why must everything good be discontinued??). I don't know if they've replaced with something else in their brush line or what.

Hi Ladies,

I'm confused. I thought brushing your hair causes split ends and breakage. Can it actually be good for your hair? I'd love to know this because I haven't brushed my hair in years for fear of causing more harm than good. If so what would be a good brush for fine hair?

I have a regular Goody's boar bristle and I love it. I hope I can keep it forever. It's the softest boar bristle I've ever used. I have another that I bought from Sally's but it's not nearly as soft as the Goody's brush. I bought it from some drug store in New York druing Christmas because my hair was crazy all over my head in a bun and I needed to brush it into place. I had forgotten my brush. I have yet to find the same one in any store here in Florida.

boar bristles are different. the bristles are compatible with human hair - they are close in composition.

i wouldn't do 100 strokes on the hair on your edges but they are safe especially if used for smoothing and shine.

I use a very old and very soft boar bristle brush with a wooden handle. It's small and the bristles are like butter. My dad used it for YEARS to brush his hair in the morning until it magically appeared in my bathroom and was never seen by his hair follicles again.:sekret:

I use it before I wash to gently remove shed hair (since I don't comb between washes), and I also use it every now and then to gently smooth down my edges. I love it to peices and have a great fear of it sprouting legs and going off to frolic with all the other lost brushes in paradise.:beach:

What a coincidence! I have been thinking and thinking in the last few days about using my brushes again; Conair boar and a wide paddle Denman. I admit when I brushed it was before LHCF and reading Cathy Howse. I have no split ends now so I'll attempt it for one side for 1 week but gently...any splits then I'll stop again. The no combing also drives me crazy as my hair looks like it is woven with yarn, thick and not smooth, out with that too.
