I read somewhere that if you are trying to grow your hair out you should not have too many layers in your hair. But try to have all one length. For many that is impossible. Does anyone know why not having layers will help your hair grow?

Although I cant help you scientifically, Im going to go ahead and say that logically that doesnt make sense. Unless of course the person wants to grow their hair to be one length then having layers wont help in that situation. I know people(3-4 types) who have had layers for years and grow there hair just fine. I myself have layers and I grew and amazing 1.5-2 inches in 7.5 weeks.

Like I said, I may be wrong but I dont think thats true.

I don't believe that theory at all. If anything, my hair grew a ton after I got it cut in layers, not to mention it grew really pretty because of the layers. I'm definitely thinking about getting some layers cut for the added thickness, not to mention my hair is growing in an ugly shape.
