for me, the first key is taking them consistently. second, if you're asking which vitamins have helped most with the hair, i would say the B5 and biotin.

For me, it is the 1,000 mg of Vitamin Ester-C, for a stronger immune system.
Is there anyboddy on this board taking vitamins for health reasons, and not for hair reasons?

Northernbelle, I love taking ester C. I only take 500mg at a time and I'm not consistent with it. When I do remember to take it, my body immediately responds to it. I feel more energetic and my pimples start to clear up. My mood improves too..
moezthunder, those two made my hair grow in thicker. i mean it's a really noticeable difference too. i think i first noticed after taking for about 6 months. you have to take it long enough to get a significant amount of new growth to notice it. i don't know that any of them make my hair grow faster on a consistent basis, but i'm used to that.
northernbelle, since my diet isn't always the best, i take most of the vitamins for my overall health moreso than for hair growth. that's why i've continued to take them even though my hair doesn't really grow faster.
...I take....
2 Silica - 500mg each
2 Primrose - 1300mg each
2 Flaxoil - 1000mg each
2 MSM - 1000 mg each
2 biotin - 1000 mcg each
2 GNC Ultra Nourishair (has biotin, silica and MSM)
1 Daily vitamin - has 100% of everything
Milk
Soy Protein Shake Mix it all together and drink
I'm new to this, can anyone tweak this for me I think I'm taking too much.
Dyzne, MoezThunger is the name of a board member here.
Sounds like you're trying to add more to your regimin.
If you're looking to minimize your vitamins, looking at your list I would take out either Flax oil or Evening Primrose, since they are both essential fatty acids and maybe the silica. It's always smart to start with only a few vitamins and then build from there so that you have a sense of what each vitamin is doing for you.
dzyne, soulchild is right. i was answering moezthunder's question. the two vitamins i was referring to for thicker hair are B5 and biotin.
i also agree with soulchild about the flax or EPO. to cut down, i'd take one or the other, not both. and i also agree with DSD. increase the biotin to 5mg. the way to do that is to buy a 5mg capsule. so you only have to take one a day. i take the Vitamin Shoppe brand.
Adrienne, I just started DSD's biotin routine today. 12.5gm-1st week/ 10gm-2nd week/ then 7gm I think and none on the 4th week. I kind of thought the biotin and the B5 were the same though. I'm wondering cuz i am about to buy some GNC ultranourish hair &nail that was on the exchange board; but she was also selling the B5 too.

Hey Dyzne, I notice you use Emu oil. How long have you been taking it? Have you noticed improvements on your scalp and where did you purchase yours? Thanks.
I use a table spoon of the Jojoba and Emu and 1/2 tsp of the other oils mix them together heat in the microwave for 13 secs apply to my hair massage it for a minute or 2 and sit under a dryer for 30 minutes or sometimes longer. I started this because my scalp was so dry and itchy and I must admit my scalp has felt a lot better. I am not quite sure which oil to thank but the combination works for me as a great hot oil treatment before i shampoo. I hope this makes sense and thanks for asking. If you do a search you may find better information from the other here on the website. That's how I get great advice and inspiration .
Thanks Adrienne for the info. Good lookin out! DSD, girl you know I'ma keep you posted PLUS I just found somewhere to buy the Surge; so you know I'ma have alot to say
