here.... but i'm not here
Well. After three long years, I have officially broke my original Chi flat iron. And after the week I've had, it couldn't have come at a worse time. But I don't want to spend a lot of money on another flat iron, but I want something of really good quality. Any suggestions?

I had the Sedu and kept it too long, but I did love it while I had it. (Still have it in my closet, but let's be honest too many years is too many years for any flatiron).

My DH went with me to Ulta and we bought the Croc! I was this close to getting the T3...but the Croc has been great for my 4b hair. I rarely straighten and it gets it pin straight.

Always use a heat protectant, always deep condition before straightening and always use the lowest heat setting to get your hair straight. It even works on air dried hair with a lot of texture/kink (like my hair). I hope this helps someone, because I researched flatirons on this board before buying.

I did not want the CHI simply because the 1.5 inch that I needed did not have a heat dial. Um, no way!

I am still loving my FHI runway, BUT I HATE that the white plates look a yellow/brown mess now.

I do not think white plates where a good product design decision. I wish the plates were black instead of white.

I still like my Hana Elite 1 inch. It does cost a grip though lol, but I"ve never had better results with any other flat iron. I've had it for at least 4 years now, I'm not the most careful with my belongings and its still sturdy, no chips, no scratches on the plates or anywhere, no problems with the cord, no loose parts, it heats up really fast (under a minute) and has many different temperature settings (that actually work!). 140F-450F. More than once i've left it on for an entire day by accident! oops. Nothing happened. it comes with a heat resistant carry/storage bag, and a heat resistant mat... all good quality and still going strong. I think nowadays (not when I bought it) they throw in a brush set.... i think i saw someone post that ..hmmm

I've used it on natural 4b hair (blow dried OR air dried), and on relaxed hair (blow dried Or air dried). All good results.

It cost me $200-220 at the time but its well paid for itself considering its been over 4 years and still going really really strong.

happy hunting! :)

I have a Solia and a Sally's chi knockoff. I loved them both when I was relaxed, though my Solia was my favorite. I haven't tried them now that I'm natural yet.

Great thread OP! My Sedu died on me after 6 years of service. I am looking for a replacement too. It's either the Hana, babyliss pro titanium or the Croc. I have very thick type 3c/4a hair.

Awww you ladies are making me wish I purchased the Croc. I bought the Sedu flat iron a few weeks ago, and so far it's pretty good.
