We always say that good hair is healthy hair...but what exactly is healthy hair? From my understanding hair is dead. So when do you know when your hair is in a "healthy" state?

Not breaking, manageable, moisturised, strong, etc.....

I think its a spectrum between healthy and damaged. They both have degrees. I would say ultimately healthy hair would be kept as close to what came out of the scalp (probably virgin locs in excellent condition)as possible. Very damaged, well, who knows because that tends not to stick around long enough to see... But most of us are somewhere in the middle, more on the healthy side, akin to what CherryPie said.

no breakage or splits if its thick then even better
