I remember back around 2003 they were very reliable and people swore by them! Today, they are totally unreliable and leave us angry. Is it because they think that AAs just don't care about their hair? And/or, are many of the people working at these shops are not licensed stylists? What do you think is going on?

I don't know what they think but I went two or three times and stopped going. They always wanted to blow dry my hair and I did not want a blow out. It's just too much stress for my hair. I got tired of them not listening to me: No I don't want a cut, No I don't want a blow out. So I didn't go back.

I've never liked them for the most part.

I only went to two that did a fantastic job. One was a woman that did exactly what I told her and they got rid of her quick because she was taking all the customers.

Another was a man who did my chunky streaks back in 97' went back and he was gone.

that industry is just like any other industry...popularity shoots up, quality goes down.

I was literally just asking myself this earlier today! My fave salon has increased their prices, making it that more difficult for me to go there consistently. So I've been cutting back in other places...like tips. I know, it's bad, but I can't justify spending $65 and not even getting a chemical service. That's the price of a relaxer touch up

Ur prices went up too? That sucks. The really good stylists magically disappear. I've been lucky (except with the price hike) that they still listen to me & do what I want. It seems like they want clients in and out :( I've seen some stylists make funny faces when long hair ladies walk in....IMO AA stylist are da worst (in my emperience)
