It does not matter to me as long as it looks good.
I have seen older ladies with long hair looking all scraggly and out of control, meanwhile I have seen older ladies with the most beautiful grey or salt n pepper hair ever.
Have you ever seen HBO's "Tell me you love me"? The older lady that is the psychologist has the prettiest shoulder length all grey/white hair. I love the style on her and it has lots of body and movement.
As long as it is cute and sexy (yes sexy even if older) I will be fine.
I don't care about greys.
Here is that lady:

I know I sound like a broken record but look at this one. Salt and pepper looks wonderful and it has some length. My mother looks wonderful with it and her hair is shorter.

Before you ask, yes I truly admire her and her work. She is such an inspiration.

yepI don't think it matters. Also, if someone has a pretty grey pattern I don't mind seing it.
I plan on having long hair to pin up as I age. My personal preference is longer as you get older. I wore all the short/ trendy styles when I was younger... now I'm moving into pin ups like my late grandmother used to do.
It depends on your overall style, your cut, and how rock it IMO. I typically like shorter hair on older women but if you frame your face or dress to compliment your hair your should be good to go. Also, I LOVE silver hair on older ladies. It looks to regal and beautiful!
It always seems as if when women get older, they feel the need to cut there hair shorter. I see lots of older women with short cuts... it looks good, but I would wonder to myself why.
In church one time i even heard a few older women talking about another older lady with long beautiful silver hair...they were saying how this lady was too old to have hair that long and she should cut it in a nice manageable style.
I thought that was so silly.
I for one want to be one of those old styling mamas with long salt and pepper hair down my back, wearing sweater sets, skirts, pointy toe slingbacks w/ the kitten heel while clutching a beautiful stand of pearls.![]()

This is my take also. If you want to cut your hair off, cool but I hate when stylist stress that you're supposed to cut it off when you get older like it's the rule or something.I don't think it matters. Also, if someone has a pretty grey pattern I don't mind seing it.

I think older women with longer hair is sexy and less matronly. It's kind of the "unexpected" therefore more exotic. I think that as we age, society tells us that we are less sexy and I think women cut their hair because it's more androgynous (sp). Our society tells us that older women cannot be sexy! I can't tell you how many older women I know/see that have straight up men's haircuts. It's like they are trying to de-femitize (if that's a word) themselves.az
