Regimen-wise? I'll start:

The Same
-comb daily
-wrap or flexi rod at night
-heat every 5-7 days
-don't "moisturize". I either use EVOO or nourish and shine 2x a week
-relax whenever I see enough NG and don't count how many weeks post I am (I usually end up relaxing every 2-3 months)
-don't pre poo
-I use an expensive, ceramic iron
-I use a silicone based, heat protector (I used to use IC)
-cowash (althought VERY seldom, I wear my hair straight 99 percent of the time)

Different
-I no longer trim each touch up
-I now DC with moisture
-I now DC with protein
-I now clarify
-I use silk, not satin scarves
-I use a shower comb
-I use salon products
-I spend waaay more on products
-I use more oils

Different:
Everything :lachen:

My hair was a broken off, glued HAM before LHCF

Excellent question.

First I wear my hair natural, since 4th May. I moisturize twice a day. Prior to going natural, I didn't manipulate hair much. Wash more often. Wrap hair up at night.

:bdance:

Same:
tie my hair up at night with a satin scarf
oil my scalp

Different:
I Deep Condition once a week.
use natural products
Co-wash
do treatments (hair mask, baking soda exfoliant, etc)
Flat-iron only 4 times a year
baby my ends
Bun to death
Document my hair journey
Try new things with my hair
Use heat protectant
Moisturize
stop using grease

Same
satin pillow case

Different
texlax
co wash practically every day
wet bunning
abandoned my flat iron
moisturize and seal with jojoba oil
detangle only with conditioner in hair
increased protein

Mine is different everything.

I use to torture my hair it was a serious love hate situation.

I finally realized I was NOT the boss and started listening to my hair aka The Beast.

When I listen life is good when I don't well.....it gets interesting for me :ohwell:

1. Wear a scarf or bonnet every night. Sleep on a satin pillowcase.
2. Use lots of conditioner for detangling.
3. Use a wide tooth comb.

Different
1. Comb gently instead of raking through my hair.
2. Choose products based on ingredients and not just guess work.
3. Now when I get braids/weaves or wear wigs they are protective styles that aid in length retention instead of a way to get away from my hair for a while.
4. Using natural oils.
5. Not using shampoo or heat.

Ditto!

The Same
Wrapping. Combing. Regular heat.

Different
Deep conditioning. Cowashing. Not ALWAYS using heat, sometimes doing airdried styles. Infrequent trims. DIYing.

I do everything differently!

Prepoo (sometimes)
Cowash
DC 2X per week
Moisturize daily (and not with Pink Oil!!!LOL!)
Seal daily
Sleep with satin scarf or bonnet every night (will upgrade to silk at some point)
Only comb to detangle under running water with hair full of condish
Finger comb only
Bantu knotouts
Lots of Buns!

OMG, I do everything differently. The first technique I picked up was cowashing, and 2 months after I joined I BC'd. I wash differently (and often), I DC, I detangle slowly with a large comb, I use a leave-in, I learned how to box braid/cornrow/twist, I wet bun, I rollerset, I just plain DIY!!!

Oh no, wait -- one thing is the same. I use Chi Silk Infusion when I flat iron. But I didn't know it was a heat protectant -- I just knew it made my hair seem healthier and shinier when I used it.

same:
satin scarf and bonnet each night
wide tooth combs
DC'ing
Moisturizing
low heat
roller sets

different:
cowashing
Oiling
pre-pooing
buns, braid outs, twist outs, flexi rod sets, protective styling period
stretching
detangling in the shower
airdrying

And I don't think I'll go back to wrapping my hair at night after my stretch is over.

Same: braids

Different: using natural oils, no heat, wigs, OCT, hair vitamins, moisturizing, baggying, sealing, deep conditioning, pre poo, organic shampoo, low manipulation

The Same

I wear phonie ponies.
I blow dry.

Different

EVERYTHING THING ELSE.

I used to wash once per month in the summer and use the phonie ponie. For fall, winter and spring, I wore roller wraps. I went to the salon every two weeks like clock work. The only hair care I did was wrap my hair every night and spray with some oil sheen, (Luster's of course). One summer I went to wash my hair and found I had no shampoo. I used some of whatever DH had in the shower. Had no conditioner, except a leave-in which was whatever caught my eye at the store. I had one oil, Hollywood Beauty Carrot Oil. An old stylist of mine had given it to me to use when I unwrapped my hair in the morning. I liked shampoos that said they washed and conditioned, because I hated to spend the extra time conditioning. My stylist touched up my head every six weeks. I got color every six months. (my choice), once in June and once in December.

Now I have all kinds of shampoos, conditioners, butters, lotions, creams and oils. It takes three to four hours for me to prepoo, wash, condition and deep condition with protein and moisture once per week. I wear a satin cap every night. Well, during the day too since I work at home. When I do comb my hair to go out, I moisturize and use a protein leave in and seal with an oil before applying the ponie tail. Every other night I use growth aids on my edges, crown, ends and nape.

I know how to rollerset now, but, won't commit to not blow drying, once per week until I can get my stand dryer. I hate dealing with my table top model. This blow drying is the only heat I use. It do it on a medium setting. I used to do it torked up as high as that baby could get. I didn't put anything on my hair after either. Well, maybe some Lusters Pink Oil, if I had some.

RELAXING
Then: I used to get a "perm" every 2-3 weeks :look:
Now: I relax every 2-3 months if not longer

WEAVES
Then: wore constantly them because I had no hair, glued them in.
Now: I wear occasionally either sewn-in or a half-wig b/c I want to either stretch a little longer or because I want a temporary change

WASHING:
Then: Once every 2 weeks was overkill....i could go longer.
Now: Once or twice a week

MOISTURIZING
Then: Used Pink oil or Perm Repair once a week....that's pretty much it.
Now: I moisturize daily and then apply oil afterwards. Deep condition once a week always.

HEAT
Then: Loved it!!! Used it every day if needed. I would blowdry w/ the pick attachment after every wash.
Now: Still love it  but try to only use it once a month. I airdry most of the time.

PRODUCTS STAPLES
Then: Gel, Spritz, Pink Oil, the moisturizer that came in the kit......
NOW: oils, deep conditioners, heat protectant, butters....

Basically, I've changed everything about my hair care regimen since I joined and I couldn't be more happy with the outcome

i'm pretty sure i do everything differently....

i roller set or air dry (yes i have taken a liking to my wet bun now that i've got porosity control down... make a difference!!). i use entirely different products. i moisturize and seal at least once a day. i deep condition. i use protein treatments. i detangle....

i stopped blow drying and flat ironing. that's pretty major.

i am going to start stretching my relaxers more. i usually go once every 12 weeks. i'm aiming for once every 16 weeks. I'm on week 13 now. :)

The same, co wash fairly often

Different, cut out cones for the most part, DC, use protein, cut out direct heat, use a satin bonnet every night.

Same : bunned hair

Different: Co-washing, baggying, Ayurvedic products, washing more.

Since joining, I have better haircare practices overall. I am loving my hair now.

SAME
wrap my hair
sleep with a scarf

DIFFERENT
condition at every wash (i know!)
deep condition every week
moisturize
don't use brushes
don't use direct heat
do conditioner washes
use what works, on a regular basis (no more PJ)
actually pay attention to my hair and its needs

My entire hair care up keep has changed. Before I came to LHCF I was washing no more than once :wallbash: a month if that. It was always dry and brittle I wore weaves all the time. Now I've been wearing my own hair since Feb 1, 2009. I wash twice a week, moisturize and seal twice a day.. My hair is a moisture hog but I feed it. i wear braidouts and buns. I use Henna (never even heard of it before I came here). I deep condition once a week at least sometimes twice a week. I've stopped using shampoo to wash with.

So I have done a 360 degree turn around with my hair and its loving me back for it.
