They're a really great way to jack up your hair that's what they are! Damage from fusion extensions is what brought me to LHCF in the first place, and a lot of ladies will attest to the fact that are pretty bad for your hair.

What they are is human hair extensions bonded to your real hair with a protein bonding solution and heat. The point where it is bonded is supposed to be "invisible" and therefore look very natural, but the fact of the matter is that the bond itself is a milky clear color and is very visible on darker colored hair. The best way to describe looking at someone who has fusion extensions is to compare it to barbie doll hair. Many strands coming out of one pont on the scalp gives it a very unnatural look.

Also the point where the fusion attatches to the hair becomes very very weak over time. Deep conditioning is not reccomended while wearing fusion extensions because it degrades the protein bond and causes the extension to fall out.

So to make a long story short, STAY AWAY FROM FUSION and have a wonderful year of Happy Hair Growing!:look:

Here's a good picture of the fusion technique: http://www.hairz.com/fusion_info.htm.

ITA with Sohohair -- if you want to grow your own hair long, I would avoid fusion extensions. They really can thin your hair out fast, and if done incorrectly or left in too long they will snap it off at the root.

:( eeeww that sounds scary lol

I had them before just for highlights. They didn't thin my hair or break it. But again, I'm sure if I had of had a whole head full of that it might have. And that bond stuff is hard to get out.
