Hey fellow challengers, I got a sew-in installed yesterday and I CANNOT get the front to blend. The texture matches PERFECTLY, but I cannot seem to hide the front weft with my bangs.

The lady that did the weave did not even flatiron and blend the section of hair that was left out. Weaves are kinda new for me, but should she have done that?!?!

I had to do it when I got home. She started working on someone else and when i asked her about it, she looked it me like :look: "Oh, you want me to do that??" I was like  !!

I did not feel like waiting so I just left.

Now, I don't know what the heck I'm doing. Today I had to put a scarf headband on (see pic) for work, but I don't want to do that everyday. I called her and she asked me to come back there today so she can fix it. At this point, I am really diappointed in her. She got the weave really flat and I can see there is potential, but DANG!!

I am so frustrated. I don't want to manipulate the unprotected section all the time trying to get it to look right.

How do you guys do it!!?? Do you get parts or just comb it back? Do you use gel or something (I did not)

Awww I'm sorry HoneyDew. It looks good from what I can see but I understand on the headband thing. You paid her to do your hair, and she should have done it the right way. She should have done what she needed to do to make your hair blend. Whether it was flat iron it, gel it, whatever. Your hair was supposed to be complete when you left. Have you tried putting some pomade or moisturizer on your hair and tieing it down? I would always get a part in the middle but there was enough hair left out to brush it all back. I wore it brushed back most of the time. But I liked being able to part it if I wanted. I used to have that problem covering the last track too bc my hair is thin so I would blowdry it (so it would look thicker) and rub a little eqp curl wax on top and tie it down. It gave it a little shine and kept it put without "wetting my hair". I didn't want it to revert around the edges since I relaxed so infrequently. Sometimes I used mango butter too.

Your weave looks very nice HoneyDew :). Yes, she was supposed to do the blending of the front part for you, that wasn't very nice of her not to. What I do is put on a little moisturizer and and oil-and-water spritz (i do mean a little ) put in the parting I want, and put on some kind of headband overnight, by morning they blend perfectly and lay down. If I want to wear bangs, I either go the easy route with the headband, or try to blend them using a round bristle brush and just a little bit of oil sheen.

The great thing is the longer you wear it, the more your hair "becomes" the style (is that even proper english? ) as in where it didn't lay down before it lay down more easily, etc.

HTH. :)

Go ahead and go back and let her fix it...since you paid good money. Plus, it'll save you the drama of having to fight with it everyday. I like your pic. You are such a cutie!

I agree Isioma! Once you get it, it'll be easier to keep it that way. If she can fix it, let her. It's the least she can do.

I agree. Please let her fix it. But might I suggest you finding someone else in the future? You should walk out of a salon, COMPLETE. And with some advice on how to take care of your style in between salon visits. Totally un-cool of her:mad:

:Blush2: thank you :)

In fact, thanks for all the comments ladies. I am going to go there after work today, which is such an inconvenience. I actually took off work yesterday to take care of this weave. My plan was have it all done and have my hair hidden before my classes start in a few weeks. Such an inconvenience!

Anyway, I should have been patient and waited for Reniece's waiting list. I just HAD to get a weave.

You know I really wanted to like this lady because she was so sweet, but I think I am going to try to get through 6 weeks of this weave and move on. Part of me wants her to just remove it. :look:

I would ask her to fix it too...
I got tired of taking a hot comb to the front of my hair so I don't anymore. I use Elasta QP Mango Butter to moisturize then I use a boars brush to brush the hair back and I secure it with a loose elastic band. I'll try and attach pics later. I have gotten SOOOO many compliments and it looks waaaay more natural for some reason. U can still see my waves but I guess it just looks like I'm stretching!

The last is a pic showing my sew-in with the front straightened with the hot-comb

Guys!!!

I went back to that salon today!!:nono: :nono:

She told be to bring another pack of hair which I did not want to spend money on. I stopped to pick up the hair and went there.

When I got there and she was working on an "emergency weave"

After waiting for her to finish, she proceeds to try and spray hairspray on my hair saying that she needed to harden the part that I had flatironed.

I stopped her of course saying that I don't put anything with alcohol in my hair. Then she sprays water on it and wiping the strands really roughly with some towel she had.

He theory was that she needed to make the hair like it was before I flat-ironed last night so she can braid it and add another track in the front.

I ended up getting up out of that chair and saying "forget it!"

Then get this - she asked me if she could buy the pack hair from me.

I was trippin! I am just going to have to wear a scarf everyday for a month and get it removed.

I cannot believe I paid her for this. That is why I just like doing my own hair!!!

WOW I'm so sorry HoneyDew. What did she need the extra pack of hair for?

That's just random... Is there a lot of your hair left out in the front? Can you try tieing your hair down? It might make the front lay down.

HoneyDew your hair looks good...
I am sorry for the all the issues u have been having w/ the lady.
I think I would of made her fix the issue my way...

Who is Reneice? Did spell that right?

I guess I can. :( :(

I am really feeling powerless because I cannot remove the weave on my own. At this point I just want to remove it all and just feel normal again. I really don't feel like myself at all. It's depressing. I am ashamed that I let it get to me like this.

Oh wow! I'm so sorry this happened to you HoneyDew! And to think, that lady had the NERVE to try to buy the pack of hair from you - that is beyond tacky.:perplexed

I know you've been having issues with braids, and now your weave didn't work out. Have you tried falls/instant weaves as a protective style? They're cheaper than braids & weaves and you can take 'em off if they get on your nerves!

Wow, this woman must not be that good at doing weaves! A whole 'nother pack of hair just to correct the front?

Sorry about the disappointment Honey Dew. But do wear it for at least a week, because the cornrows tend to relax a bit and make it easier to blend and cover the weft. And if after that you still don't like it, by all means take it off. There's no point in having a style you're not happy with.

It does look purty with the head band though! :p How long is it?

That is what I am looking into. I have seen that ladies are having good results using those. I bought one a while ago but the hair is too silky for me. I want to find one with hair that matches my texture so I am going to be on the lookout for that.

I cannot wait to get this sew-in removed.

I am still bugging out over this lady!! I cannot believe that she advertises that she is so good and cares about the health of hair and all of that when she really has NO clue. It really confirms how I feel about trusting others with my hair.

I cannot believe she wanted me to go buy more hair! I had already spent too much $$$. But then to tell me she needed to buy the pack from me!!! It is funny now that I think about it.

Thanks for the compliment! I wore another handband today. I had to really seach through my accessories to whip out something creative.

I am going to try to keep them in over the weekend and early next week. If I am not feeling it after Wednesday or so, I am going to get her to take it out. I am really disappointed, my hair could use the break.

Oh, it is about APL, but I have been wearing it up with a clip.
