We are ALL vain.........

Ask him if he would prefer you do the alternative: Come out the house with your hair all jacked up, crud in the corner of your eyes, in your pajama pants, wearing your house slippers, with your breath all stankin talking about, "Lets go on our date!" :lachen:

LOL! at this thread :lachen::lachen::lachen:

well Bublin, he can never accuse you of being unclean or unkempt!!

besides there is nothing wrong with a little stop to the mirror everytime you pass one up...we have to make sure our hair is in the right place!:sekret:

My new SO (so we are still getting to know each other i guess) just called me.

He asked me what i was up to.

I said i had just finished drying my hair under the dryer whilst on the LHCF website (he knows about this already)

He asked me, 'Are you vain?'

I ask 'why?'

He says because i'm always on that site and all we seem to discuss is hair, make-up and what you can do next to your body. He added that its clear i take care of myself and he loves my hair but i always seem to be washing it.

I said that it didn't make me vain, i just want to look my best and am trying to grow my hair and keep it healthy.

He then said.............

'The other night when we were out to dinner you were always looking in the mirror that was behind me and when a hair was out of place you seemed to freak out a bit'.

:ohwell::lachen::blush::perplexed

What else could i say?

And there you go. What's wrong with trying to learning how to improve on your natural gifts? There's also a thin line between "vanity" and "taking pride in your appearance" (and the location of that line depends on who's applying the label and about whom they are talking). As long as you are trying to make positive changes in your appearance and not slamming other people about theirs, I say keep on doing what you do. ;)

I felt vainish when I came to this site too, but when I look at all of the great helpful threads I look at it completely different now. This site is complete and it not only helps with hair, but everything else like you said, it's also a great social atmosphere. The board has helped me with my hair, but there is a lot of intellectual exchange here, I'm learning something new every day, and it's lots of fun! There is a sisterhood here, you should tell him that :)

It probably is vanity.
My interest in my hair, makeup, and clothing serves no practical purpose and I take a lot of pride in looking good. It is what it is.
Tell him you're going uncombed for a month and wearing a moo-moo and cardboard flip flops :lol:

Now now, that's too far. No need to stub your toe on everything for a point.

Who needs to be practical all the time? Besides we're not always checking the mirror for no reason... sometimes you gotta make sure there's nothing in your teeth, the nose friends haven't decided to come out to play and you didn't just smudge your eyeliner on one side making it look like you have a black eye (true story, allergy season).

My SO saw my hair out of braids for the first time in 4 years and he was playing with it more than me. I will admit though, I stay in front of the mirror extra long just loving my entire look. lol.. :yep:
