Do you have to cut off relaxed hair to get a wave noveau?
Also, I saw an ad somewhere for a product/technique that can give you the straight (if you blow dry it) and the wave noveau look it you air dry it, does anyone know what I'm talking about? I can't remember what it was?
Your sister's hair looks great! My wave nouveau was so see-through by the time it got that length. How often does she get a retouch? Does she go to the same stylist each time? Aren't wave nouveaus expensive now?
In NY my fam told me it takes 4 hours to do the process of it and its 75 bucks, plus i was told that yes they cut off your relaxed part and then do the process. Stylist said u can go from a WN to a perm but u cant go from a perm to a WN. They lived upstate NY though so i can almost imagine what it costs in the city. Here in Detroit no1 sports it so.. i dunno.

I agree that her sister's hair is beautiful but not everyone's wave noveau looks like that. Mine looked like a Jherri Curl with waves. When I get home I will post a pic...if I can find one.
No you can not mix relaxers and curly perms. Some really talented stylists can transition you (no overlapping) from curl to relaxer but I don't know any who suggest going in the opposite direction
My sister doesn't have a wave nouveau anymore. She is one of those crazy women whose hair grows quickly so she thinks nothing of cutting it all off. She is now natural but when she had the wave nouveau we'd both get our hair retouched at around 3 months. I never noticed any breakage at the demarcation line. Depending on where you live the prices can really vary. For my sister's length we were charged extra though.
Forgot to mention we switched stylists twice while we had curly perms. Both were very talented and experienced with giving curly perms so I'd suggest you find someone who does these on a regular basis. Later on I found a stylist who was great with curly perms but for some reason he couldn't relax to save his life!
