Please share your wash day regiment with me.

How long does it take you? Do you pre-poo? what products do you use? Do you deep conditon and if so how often and how long? Do you use Ayurvedic products? What are you leaving in your hair and are you adding stuff to your hair and scalp daily?

I think I am doing to much at times and too little at other times.

I keep it VERY simple:

rarely i prepoo (about 5 or 6 times a year)
lather with elucence clarifying 1x
lather with elucence moisture balancing poo 1x
slather on conditioner.... wait 10 mins rinse
apply leave in and roller set or airdy then flat iron.

i do this weekly. recently i've started going to the salon, and thats when i don't retain much length. Lately i have sacraficed style for health and i'm going to cut down on my salon visits except for special occasions

3 wash days: Saturday, Monday, Wednesday

Saturday
prepoo overnight with Vatika Oil or some other ayuvedic oil blend
wash with CON red label in summer, green in winter
protein based DC, following by conditioning rinse
acv rinse
apply leave-in, seal, maybe use some gel and twist hair

Monday
tea rinse with ayurveda powders
spray deep conditioner mixed with water to hair
this is done with hair still in twists

Wednesday
take twists out
Kalpi Tone co-wash
moisture based DC mixed with PC
apply leave-in, seal, brush with Denman, wear wng for 2 days

Still a newbie, but I'll chime in:

Detangle with fingers
Pre-poo with jojoba with rosemary, sage, and ylang ylang essential oils added- 1 hr.

Shampoo with Rare Elements Pure Shampoo

DC with Miss Jessie's Rapid Recovery when I need protein and Mizani Hyrafuse when I need protein with heat or steam for 1hr.

Comb through hair with seamless mason pearson comb while conditioner is in hair.
rinse, then braid set with Qhemet Amla and Olive Heavy Cream and Miss Jessie's Curly Buttercream, rods on the ends.

Alright I'm in:

wash twice a week and unless it's time for a henna treatment (still trying to get this right) here goes
- pre poo with vatika or alma/shikakai oils
- Puur home made poder mix (maka, alma, brahim, shikakai, sometimes with aritha; I can't spell.) leave in for 20 minutes or so then
- Rinse, rinse, rinse
- Steam tretment with Maka infuse seasame oil
- DC with AO either HSR or GPB (depends on how myhair feels and when I last henna'd)
- Instant Condition comb thur with whateveris around (this is the only time I use cones BTW)
- then KK knot today or morrocan oil and then flat twist.
It can take anywhere from 20 hours or half a day. I ususally wash on a lazy afternoon gives me a reason to stay home and getsome work done.

  • How long does it take you? It depends on what I am doing, but usually it takes me at least 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours.
  • Do you pre-poo? I will either pre-poo, use a hot oil treatment or deep condition on wash and co-wash days.
  • What products do you use? I pre-poo with conditioner/olive oil/cayenne oil mixture I concocted. For hot oil treatments, I mix coconut, jojoba, and olive oil. I deep condition with Lustrasilk Shea Butter cholesterol, ORS Replenishing (if I am in deep need of moisture) or Palmer's Coconut Protein Pak. I shampoo with VO5 Moisture Milk Moisturizing Shampoo or the VO5 Herbal Escapes Clarifying Shampoo if I need to clarify. I co-wash with the VO5 Moisture Milk conditioner and use Pantene Beautiful lengths as my final conditioner.
  • Do you deep condition and if so how often and how long? I usually deep condition when I shampoo, but sometimes when I co-wash as well. I usually dc for at least one hour, sometimes longer.
  • Do you use Ayurvedic products? No.
  • What are you leaving in your hair and are you adding stuff to your hair and scalp daily? NTM Silk Touch Leave in (daily) and Just For Me Hair Milk (as needed) are what I use. I seal with jojoba, coconut or olive oil. I apply castor oil to my hairline including temples and edges.

  • Pre-shampoo-either olive oil or protein on dry hair with heat for 10-15 minutes
  • Shampoo with moisture poo and rinse – 7 minutes
  • Detangle in shower and leave towel dry for 10 minutes
  • Apply moisturizing deep conditioner with heat anywhere from 20-45 minutes
  • Final rinse with porosity control 5 minutes
  • Apply creamy moisturizing leave in conditioner-(sometimes add keratin spray or wrap lotion as well)
  • Apply serum
  • Rollerset hair – 40 minutes
  • Dry hair underneath bonnet dryer – 50 minutes

Also do a protein treatment every 6 weeks and will be adding henna and indigo.
Total time = 2-2.5 hrs
I've been doing this every week for 6 months.

How long does it take you? 2 hours

Do you pre-poo? I usually dont but last week i did it for the first time with EVCO. will be continuing this...

What products do you use? On actual wash day (2-3x per month) I use Vo5 Kiwi clarifying poo, DC with AO HSR (w/evoo mixed in) under dryer for 30 mins. Make 6 buns and airdry. On co wash day I just lather up with TJ's Nourishing spa conditioner, detangle and rinse.

Do you deep conditon and if so how often and how long? I DC every week with AO HSR (sometimes i use GBP) 30 mins. Once I'm out of HSR I will be trying AO WC

Do you use Ayurvedic products? Heard of them but don't know what they are.

What are you leaving in your hair and are you adding stuff to your hair and scalp daily
I detangle with Garnier leavin for color treated hair (even though i'm not color treated). I use qp mango butter on my ends everyday and seal with vit E oil. I don't add anything to my scalp. although i think i should.
