i am weening myself off of the wigs, and i even rocked the puff to the club. My biggest problem now is the WASH DAY BLUES. i don't loose too much hair throughout the week but on a wash day i loose alot due to detangling. i'm really gentle but the shed hair sticks to the hair that is attached and causes some semi-loc type action.

should i just stop conditoning/washing my hair in the fro state. maybe just do scalp washes w/ ACV while i am in flat twists. i don't use too many products so i don't get alot of build up on my scalp i need help. how long is the longest anyone has gone without a wash. will daily rinsing in the shower suffice. i use hair perfume so it always smells nice.

how come my detangler is acting like it doesn't want to work anymore is my hair "immune" to it?

Hi msportugal,

Maybe you can switch products and kickstart your hair again.
I have just a few quetions for ya

Do you wash your whole head at the same time or in sections?
Also how do you actually do the washing? Do you scrub your scalp/hair or do you using a "milking" type methodology (this is what I do)? Also, do you detangle with your fingers first, then a wide tooth comb?

Maybe some of these things affect your wash day blues....

well i had a puff so i gently washed in sections making sure not to let my hair matt-up. its those darn shed hairs not making it all the way out. yeah i am leaving the shampoo alone i noticed a big difference between that and the conditioner wash. i just thought i needed it since i had chlorine in my hair. maybe i should have just deep conditioned.

Oh no, you probably did have to use shampoo if you had chlorine. I agree, probably a deep and moisturizing conditioner would help, followed by a conditioner with a lot of slippage:)

I think that's a big prob w/ natural hair. The shed hairs don't make it all the way out, so when you wash and detangle your like

. I just gave myself another touch-up yesterday, and I have long hairs that kept falling out. Nothing alarming, I just get irratated. I think it's because they were caught up in my new growth. But only very few are actual breakage. Don't fret, your supposed to lose 100 hairs a day. But that doesn't seem quite right does it?

Chlorine can wreak all kinds of havoc on hair. Also, the shampoo you used to get rid of it may have been too harsh. Joico has a chelating shampoo that's really gentle, Resolve, I think. I'm sure there are others that are just as good, but it's the only one I've used.

The tmts should bring your hair back to where it was

I don't check the hair board too much so feel free to PM me if your hair continues to act up.

Good luck.

I feel you msportugal

That is why I decided to go to the salon for shampoo set every week. At least my eyes won't see the shed hair

Have you considered washing your hair more often? I know when I switched to daily conditioner washes, I didn't have to worry about a lot of tangled up matted hair. My shedding was greatly reduced and detangling was a thing of the past. Just a suggestion.

bump bump bump
i need all the advice i can get on this subject. anyone else relaxed or natural feel like wash day is the day you loose the most hair?

Wash day is most certainly is the day that I lose most of my hair. I finger comb daily so I only see a few strands if any. But watch out wash day! Whew, if I didn't KNOW that hair was supposed to shed daily I would be worried.

It is for me, but I fidn that when I choose to comb is what helps me the most. I only use the comb while my hair is under the stream of water unless I have an extraordinarily detangling conditioner in my hair. I also wash often (I agree with the posters that suggested more CW's) which helps get the shed hairs out a bit better.

My Mom is natural and when she does this she loses the least hair on wash day. She didn't believe me until she tried it. That, and using less oil and glycerin products between washes. She washes in sections too.
