i know we all try our best to always stay positive, but do you sometimes feel a little down? it's almost time for me to get a touch-up (march 20), and my hair is driving me nuts! it's so hard to style because my scalp is sensitive, and it's extremely packed down. :( (even though my hair is extremely healthy) we all know that when our hair is freshly styled, we feel great! :band2: what do you do when you get the "hair blues"?

TIA ladies!

I'am sorry to hear that daedae.
I think everyone get's the hairblues once in a while.
My hair is dissapointing me right now,it just doesn't grow as much as I'd like it to grow/or I'am not able to retain enough growth, one of the two.
(((hugs))) to you, hope your blues will be over soon:)

This is part of the journey to understanding your hair, it is a particular issue with growing natural hair.

But what we must remember is that it is a journey and it has all the twists, turns, highs and lows as with anything you are trying to accomplish. It is part of the process, what we must do is remember that and maybe focus on another aspect of it, like maybe taking someone under our wing and teaching them more about hair care.

Is there someone who has admired your hair, email them, see how they are doing, or what they are doing. Or just waiting for the emotion to diminish. It is absolutely normal and don't beat yourself up about it, accept it for what it is see if you can do anything about it and remember it is just a moment in time.

What you are doing is great also, reaching out and asking others if they have felt the same way. I am the first to say yes I have more times than I care to remember but just around the bend is another emotion waiting to take its place.

Just some thoughts.

Yeah...I've sort of got them now.:perplexed I was hoping to stretch my relaxer to the first weekend of April which would put me at 15 weeks post but I really want a fresh look. I'm so tired of buns and am going to relax on Saturday. I usually wear a bun for two to three months at a time anyways so it's time for a change.

But to the question at hand, when I get the "hairblues" that I can't resolve with a relaxer or trip to the salon, I just remember that I am suffering -- and i use that term loosely -- for a good reason. Happy Hair Growing girl. When you reach your goal, you'll see the resulting beauty of your sacrifices.;)

I've had the hair blues a lot lately. I've been really consistant with moisturizing, protective styling, streaching my relaxers and no heat for the last 9 months. Recently, three weeks ago, I went to get my hair styled for my B-Day. The end result was not what I had hoped for in 9 months. I definitely had some growth, but I had to cut off about two inches because my ends were so bad. They were really bad. I don't think she was scissor happy. So it was my fault for not getting regular trims, but now I think I'm back where I started and it really is upseting. It's just so frustrating how one thing can set you so far back.
The only thing that is helping me is that eventually our hair is going to grow. If we continue properly taking care of it then it will grow and get better. Some of us have to be more patient then others, but I'd rather were my phony pony and have APL or BSL hair in two years. Instead of letting two years pass by and still have SL.
Thanks for posting this. I really needed to vent that out. I can't really talk to anyone that will really understand me.

I just had the hair blues around the first of the year
I just kept telling myself if it all falls off it'll grow back

I certainly do get the hair blues every now and then. Sometimes I just don't feel like doing anything to my hair (except keep the scarf on).

yep, I kinda got the hair blues now. I get this way around 6 weeks post or so. I'm tired of the bun and ng but I don't want to perm it early or wear it down. I'm planning on getting braids in June to help me get through the rest of the year because buns/baggie do not compliment this BIG 4head very well:lol: but it's the only style that allows my hair to grow and keep all the length. I just remember why I am doing this again:confused: :perplexed and then I visualize all the beautiful/long 4a's/4b's on here and that helps me get over the hair blues;) After this year I'm going to start wearing my hair down maybe 2x weekly:) Keep ya head up ladies!!!!! It's going to pay off:D

I have the blues right now. I don't know what the :censored: is going on with my hair right now. I just want to cry! :cry3:

You know what I do when I get the blues? I put it in a bun and forget that it's there! Don't stress!

I think its normal to get them. The journey is going to have some highs and lows. At the low parts, which usually happens when I'm stretching, I just get me a new hair toy. That goes a long way to making me not feel so blah!

I agree. i get the hair blues, and that's when I take that headband and some water and a scarf pull that crap back, wet it down and forget t's there. Sometimes you and your hair are gonna have an argument. Take a break and come back later to assess whether y'all need to make some changes.

I get this way too. When I do I'll slap a pre poo on dry hair so I can really see the length and health helps every time:) .

yup i do, i want my natural hair long, and i want it long now! lol having to wait two or three more year... ack,.. imma cry!

I sure do. I want a huge head full of curls, kinks and coils right now. When pressed, I want my hair to be BSL! But alas...I've been transitioning for 23 months and I'm a little past shoulder length. :perplexed Tis is life! Which is why I have a fall on right now.

We all eventually get the blues. I got the blues now because I underprocessed myself and my hair is harder to manage. It take twice as long to rollerset now. My hair grows pretty well but I don't fell like I am making much progress as far as overall length goes. I bun and moisturize like a mad woman but what can you do:ohwell: Whenever I get the blues really bad, I will go get a wash and set or try a new style. When all else fails I come here to get some LHCF love. ;)

Welcome to tonight's Hair Blues Cafe

I call this peace:
"Oh I got the hair blues"
:band2: I want hair as I sit here feeling so down

I want it now, I see other women with so much hair all around
oh I got the hair blues

It sucks the life right out of me
I ask myself why must this be
Oh I got the hair blues

I don't want to hate
I just want to appreciate my hair
But how can I really even appreciate
what ain't really there
:band2:
Can I have some hair on my shoulder
or some hair down my back?
Just thinking about passing days with nothing to show
It breaks my heart, makes me give myself a Pity pat.
Oh how I got the hair blues

My mind never rests, can't stop thinking about it
so i am never at peace
Hair, just grow, just grow, please
I got the hair blues, oh yeah:cool:

I definitely keep getting the hair blues.

Thanks for that girlie!! That gave me a smile in the midst of my blues. :)

i get 'em too. hair blues are the worst in the winter - seems like growth goes into hibernation too and a little boredom sets in.

to get over or at least ease through it, i stalk some fotkis, try a new style or two, preferably styles that keep hair handling and loose hair to a minimum (out of site, out of mind).

that feeling will pass though but hide your scissors until it does ;)

chin up ladies - spring's here and we all know most hair grows soooo well in the spring and summer months!!

hang in there! :)

I definitely have the hair blues now :(

I've been trying to do all the right things but lately it doesn't feel like my hair is growing much....

...Recently my hair has been really dry and breaking/shedding terribly...

...I also need a touch up, but I'm afraid that my hair dresser will want to trim all the progress I've made since December...

... So now I'm just stuck
