Warm Weather Regimins?

Do you ladies change it up from the fall/winter season to the spring/summer? I started my Fotki in May/June of 2007 and I was definately doing different things then I am now. More braidouts & airdrying in the summer months, IMO a little more growth and less DCing then I do now. This dry, cold Jersey hair is blowing around and trying to take my hair with it!:nono:

What about you all? What do you do when the seasons change?

Fall and Winter - I wash once or twice a week. I wear buns or braid outs.
Spring - I wash twice a week. I wear twist outs.
Summer- I wash 3 times a week. I wear wash n gos.

I live in northern jersey too! anyway this will be the first summer that I am consciously taking good care of my hair. I plan to keep my reggie is simple as it is no... the only thing is that I wear more wash and go styles but I still will DC @ least once a week and continue using my shikakai/amla powder rinse and shikakai shampoo soap every 4th wash.

well hey neighbor! whats shikakai/amla??

ooo here's the basic rundown. There's a thread on it started by Candy_C , she's the guru of ayurvedic stuff. But this is from my blog post on it.

Shikakai Spotlight

  • Shikakai a.k.a The Fruit for the Hair is actually a nut and the powder comes from de-shelled shikakai nuts
  • Promotes hair growth
  • Strengthens hair roots
  • Shikakai powder has a 2 year shelf like and most boxes will have the manufactor date stamped on it (it is NOT an expiration date in most cases)
Amla Spotlight
  • Amla a.k.a. Indian Gooseberry comes from a tree that is worshipped as Mother Nature
  • Amla is a very conditioning herb
  • Amla is also thought to penetrate the scalp to strengthen the root of your hair ... think super strong new growth

Wash and go, braid outs and wash more often in the summer and spring.
In the fall/winter, i try to keep my hair in braids.

Im gonna keep my same regimen, prepoo, cowash, deep con, & rollerset once a week. I may throw in a second wash if I feel my hair is getting sweaty mid week.
