Wanting to wash hair day after washing since it feels brittle. Safe?

I dont know how to describe how my hair feels right now. I thought I found the winning combo for moisturized, soft hair (for me). I am relaxed 4a, so I'd do a DC CW with Humecto and Jojoba oil. The products I use to air dry are a leave in and Nairobi paired with castor oil that made my hair feel great and soft and shiny for several weeks of cw and airdrying 2x a week.

Now all of a sudden my hair feels very weird. It"s so hard ot explain how it feels. Some groups of strands feel clumpy, like theyre sticking together. Flywaways are increasing, or at least are very difficult to stay in place. My hair color seems lighter in color further up the strands. It looks dull and fuzzier, yet it feels somewhat brittle. I have no idea what's going on. The only difference I can think of is some emu oil I bought that I thought made my hair feel softer. My sister used it and said she thought hers felt soft at first but the next day felt stronger. I havent used the emu oil in a week and ahalf (three washes) and it continues to have a weird combinitation of sheeding/dryness/brittleness/dull color.

Im really perpelexed and afraid it will break more.

Has anyone co-washed dry hair one day after a wash and what were the results? (was your hair dryer as a result or did the second wash save your life?)

What have you done to stop the brittleness when DCing and moisturizing and sealing everyday isnt working???

Do you mean your hair feels really dry like wheat? If so I would recommend deep conditioning with heat for at least 20 minutes using a good moisturizing conditioner.

Actually people cowash for moisture so it should help you even if you do it the day after a wash with shampoo. People cowash daily with no probs.

I did a texlax touch up on my roots the other day and I used the neutralizing shampoo that's apart of the system for the first time. By the time my hair had dried my hair was feeling DEAD WRONG. I wanted to wait a few days before cowashing but I could not take it. My hair just felt SUPER dry and dull. The next day I latehered my hair up twice with my Roux Ph Poo and my hair felt like it came back to life! I was worried that using a neutralizing poo and then pooing again the next day would dry my hair out but my hair is actually more moist, soft and smooth. I don't think that aweful neutralizing poo got all of the residue out, it just tangled my hair. So my point is it's better to get your hair feeling right now rather than waiting just because you shampooed the day before.

That same thing is happening to me too. :perplexed:perplexed:perplexed I don't know what's going on.

i think cowashing will be fine.

if it were me, i would co wash today. and just let the hair rest.

next wash day i would clarify. (lather only once) or even better use apple cider vinegar to clarify. dilute it with water. 1/2 cup to 16oz. of water and rinse your hair with it instead of shampoo. it clarifies gently and will restore your hairs ph balance. also, in the off chance that your hair DOESN'T need clarifying, the acv won't dry it out.

then i would deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner.

moisturize and seal with one moisturizer and one oil. preferably not the emu oil since it's new to your regi and the jury is still out.

i would then bun the hair to protect then ends from the air exposure and air dry.

i find that when my hair is acting weird, it's best to cut out all the extras. clean the hair strand by clarifying gently. and then start over.

sometimes buildup on the hair strand makes it resist styling because it's suffocating and not getting the nutrients it needs.

next wash day do a hot oil treatment before you wash and keep your regimen simple until you see a difference in your hair.

Thank you guys so much for your replies.

I claified last week with Suave Daily Clarifing. My problem with buildup/clarifying is in the past 3-4 months there's been a greyish buildup at the root, even after I clarify my scalp and root clean. It drives me nuts, it looks like I have dandriff and dirty hair all together. I was wondering if clarifying or shampooing every other wash was drying me out, but the buildup is nasty and ugly. So I will try the ACV rinse. Thanks so much for that tip.

I have some PH control and was wondering if that could be an issue too. So maybe I'll try that as well (my last relaxer was around march 22)

Ill post back with the results

Well I DCed with Humecto and PC. My hair feels slightly less brittle. It is still dry. I used a leave in since I was out in the heat and sun and the roots and a few inches down feel dry. My hair is breaking on the sides of my hair, but since I DC like a **** and dont pull it back and airdry Im not sure what this is from. I have used MT on the sides to regrow spots, but I moisturize like a **** afterwards. Hmm. On Wednesday I will try the ACV rinse.

make sure you are drinking enough water. eating fruits and veggies. taking a multivitamin and eating enough calories. it wouldn't hurt to add an omega 3 supplement to your diet for some essential fatty acids.

just making sure you are doing what you need on the inside too. :)

the acv rinse should help with your scalp buildup. you may want to try another condish. humecto is great and gets great reviews, but it does have mineral oil, so you may be sensitive to it. ORS Mayo may be a better choice. But again, keep your routine basic for now. i would stop the MT, etc.
