Wear your hair in a bun 98% of the time and take it down one day (from your bun of course!), blow it out, curl it and watch how people react. Ladies don't underestimate the power, intrigue, attraction and fascination of HAIR (

like anyone here would)
I took my hair out of my faithful trusty bun for 2 days and the response was very postive. Keep it up, Ladies. The world loves long hair....
sing it with me "what the world needs now... is hair, long hair...."

who started this thread?? just curious.:perplexed

Maybe it was "Caramela"? (I vaguely remember the SN). The 7th post is addressed to her but her name does not appear as one of the posters prior to that.

If it's who I'm thinking of, she did have nice, long hair.

I cut my hair down after all the heat torture I put it through and wore braids for so long that people forgot what my hair looked like.. and they'd never seen it with no heat-styling. Imagine the shock when I showed up at an event with a huge afro. haha.

Wow, someone really revived this thread from the dark ages.

This is a good thread. The comments go something like this:

*oooo girl, I didn't know you had all that hair!
*Is that really all your hair? (bold people)
*Girl, the people at church are gonna think that's a weave!(mom when you decide to go to church with her one Sunday)

and yes the "take your hair down" one.

I did this just last week! I had been wearing a bun all year. I came to work with it pressed (but what added to it is I had a little makeup on, too...which I don't usually wear).

The most common expression was :

And then they would just sit there like:  ....<blink>.....<blink>......

The comments I got were: Is it a weave? (Even a friend of mine thought it was a weave)

Another was: I knew you had alot of hair, but...but....!!!!!!!

And the third most common comment was "Can I touch it?"

It was sooo funny to see people just stand there with there jaws literally open and just STARE at me!!

That's funny because most of my friends are like, "I wanna see you w/ a flat iron." "When are you taking your braids out?"

I'm like, "Dang, you'll see it for graduation!"

I know about that shock factor..my hair is natural and I normally get it flat ironed...but in June I fired my hairdresser...so I was wearing my hair in a bun for 3 months...anyway so in September I decided to get a dominican blowout before I put it in braids....The reaction at work was priceless:eek: ...funny thing the white girls were telling me how lovely my hair looked but some of my "friends" just looked and didn't say a word......  Wonder what was wrong with them?

(I posted the following in another thread, but I feel that it's revelent for this one too):

Gosh, I know that when I "debut" my BSL hair at work my boss is going to be trying to mess with my hair. What pisses me off about him, is that he always makes little comments about me wearing weave, yet his OWN DAUGHTER got tracks up in her head and her weave is SO obvious because the weave is jet black and wavy, but smooth, whereas her hair is dark brown, and braid-out wavy, but the strands themselves are fizzy. Her hair is shoulder-length, so I know my boss is going to try to find SOMETHING negative to say about my hair just to make him feel better about himself and his daughter's hair....

I've been wearing my hair out more often lately and I knew people were going to make a big deal out it, so I tried to break them in slowly. I started off with a loose ponytails, half- up/half-down, and then fully out. The other day, I got called into a meeting with the VP and one of the sales guys in our company. I thought they were calling me to ask a question about one of our clients. How about the first thing out of their mouths was, "We just wanted to say we love your hair. What's going on? You can tell us!" I was so shocked all I could do was laugh. About a week before that, I walked into IT and the head of the IT dept. called me out in front of everybody. They had all reached an agreement that they like it when I wear my hair down.
