I'm trying to bun for most of the summer and I'm really trying to keep my hair moisturized. I picked up a jar of Long Aid Curl Activator and now I don't know what purpose it will serve, in my quest to keep the moisture in. I'm aware of the glycerine in it, but just wanted to know how/if you ladies are using it?

I don't use the gel but I have a friend who swears by it for her wash n gos. She says that S Curl gel gives her wet hair some weight so that it doesn't shrink too much but rather stays fluffy and bouncy. She does warn me that no one would feel very nice touching her hair since you need a lot of the stuff to get the effect she is going for.

i use it, i like the long aid brand, i just run it through my hair in the shower. i suggest just use it for slicking hair down.

Yes, I do! I swear by Worlds of Curls curl activator gel. It is very moisturizing and non-greasy. I use it for my wash-n-go's, which I wear frequently. I do however put in some hair oil before using the gel, just to make sure that I lock in the moisture.

I am buning alot ...pretty much all summer as well w/ the exceptions of my cute days....I do use S-Curl no drip .....the only thing I do different is that I dilute it w/ water( distilled)....I like this effect better since I am bonelaxed<-------:lachen:This way keeps me very moisturized ...but keeps the build up at bay and is not so heavy.

HTH..:yep:

I just bought the same stuff tonight.:yep: Plan to use it for slicking my hair down when I wear phony-pony's.

I use Long Aid Curl Activator Gel to smooth down my edges/hairline and for my wash ‘n go’s. It’s a heavy gel, so you don’t need to use a lot, it’s also moisturizing and it doesn’t flake, overall it’s great gel.

Yea I used to use long aid a while ago...idk why I stopped. Its the only thing that gives me really nice twist outs after I wash my hair without having to blow dry it.

I use Smooth and Shine CAG for my buns and other styles, especially in the fall, spring, and winter. The CA dry summer is sometimes too much for the glycerin though.

I've been using activator gel for my ponytails since 2004. My hair loves cheap activator gel such as Proclaim brand. It really makes my curls have more definition.

:yep:Yup I swear by the SCurl. Curious though re the bolded...once it dries you shouldn't feel anything, at least in my experience

Whew! I thought I was "on one" when I picked this up. I'm mostly concentrating on keeping my nape moisturized while I bun but I noticed how smooth my hair is when I use this and put all of it into a ponytail. I'm sure I won't have any adverse effects because I cowash at least 3 times a week. Thanks ladies!

BTW, I just wanted to mention how I made my bun: I bought one of those doughnuts from Sally's and a hair bonnet. I cut a small section off the top of the bonnet and was able to "roll" it so that it covers the doughnut and won't dry my hair. The last time I tried to bun, I used a nylon stocking and my ends were brittle and breaking. So far so good with my new doughnut. I hope this works!

isn't there another brand of cag that looks just like my jar of LA cag? I swear i think there is....if i'm not tripping i use that too otherwse if my brain is on one, LA is the only one i use...proclaim is alright but most likely i'll pass it up.

I use LongAid activator gel and I love it. It makes my curls soft and bouncy but they still have good definition and little frizz. It dosen't flake at all and it's also moisturizing.

Yep, I use it and I love it. Long Aid Activator Gel is one of the few products that I can say is an actual staple product for me. I use it for my wash-n-go's, puffs, and buns. I use it like a moisturizer.

I am noticing my nape area stays more moisturized when I use this. I think I may have stumbled onto something!

the pj in me picked this up from the grocery store today. i've been on the hunt for something to hold them edges down since 2005. the search continues....we'll see how this one goes, i'm not gettin my hopes up though

i love it, this stuff has been on the market since what...the 80's??!! It has to be benefitial one way or another:yep:

Which one do you think is better? Long Aid or World of Curls?

I purchased the World of Curls on a recommendation; however, I didn't like it in my hair. It was real sticky. Maybe I used too much.

I love this stuff as well as Smooth n Shine curl activator gel. I like to seal it off with Oyin Whipped Shea Butter. Those two curl activator gels are the only thing that make my hair soft since going natural for the second time. Its like I have different hair.

I use Long Aid, I added some more glycerin to my jar, and it's great for my edges...
