I have considered doing that. There are a few threads with advice about how to do the actual relaxing process which is to make sure you leave an inch or two at the roots and ends and relax the middle and then go back and do the missed parts. I think most posts will advise that because of the speed with which you need to apply the relaxer its better to have a professional do your virgin relaxer

I had a virign relaxer in Jan. I went to salon though to get it done though. She relaxed my roots and ends last. Now I co wash once a week ( twice a week if I'm being lazy), DC after every wash, apply leave ins and then wet bun. I do a protein treament a least once a month with Motions CPR Reconstructor. I dust as needed. I did a length check last week and I'm scaraping BSB.

Thanks ladies! After reading this forum for almost two years, I'm prepared for a scissor happy stylist lol. I will watch that woman, or man, like a hawk when they trim my hair. Actually, I may just get the relaxer and trim my own hair using the twist method.
I really want to do the relaxer myself though. I remember way back in the day, a touch up was 70$, and a roller wrap was 45$ (DMV area). I'm a broke college student lol. I guess it's worth it, but hopefully I'll watch enough videos and read enough posts to learn how to do it myself. I can do a touch up with no problem, but idk about a first time one.
