I"m giving away African Pride Olive Oil Miracle growth oil, Naat Silicon leave-in, Neutrogena split end mender, ORS hair mayo, and Jane Carter Leave In (I just got this from the hair exchange forum; I used to like this, but I don't anymore:ohwell:)

3. Post a Pic of your "Stash". (Optional) Nope, Not ready to deal with the shame

4. What are your goal(s) for the session

I'd be happy to just finish one full sized product and 2-3 samples since I'm starting so late.

ETA: Two more products I found in my stash that I forgot I had :drunk:

My stash is growing  Ok, ok, I am reigning it in. The Vitamin Shoppe was having a 20% off sale and then they gave me another 10% on top of that so I bought some conditioners. I couldn't pass it up. So I bought 2 AO White Camellias and 1 AO GPB. So I am stocked for a while.

But then today I went to the beauty supply store because it was beautiful outside and I didn't want to go home. So I bought a bottle of Taliah Waajid conditioner because I want to try cowashing with it instead of the Natures Gate conditioner. I don't think its the best conditioner for my hair. I think it makes my hair shrink up.

While at the BSS, I saw JBCO and HBCO which I have never seen before. So I bought one of each. I couldn't pass them up because they wouldn't be there the next time.

Ok so I will try to reign it in.

Probably didn't officially join this challenge so I will do so now. I have been slowing using up stuff and haven't bought anything in a while. Being broke will do that. I have found some staples but there are still products I want to try; will wait for my stash to shrink some more before I buy anything new.

1. What are your motivations for joining this challenge?
I need to use up the stuff that is collecting dust.

2. List the products you hope to use up in your stash.

3. Post a Pic of your "Stash". (Optional)
Too embarrassed to. I'm a PJ and I am ashamed of myself.

4. What are your goal(s) for the session?
There's only a month and a half left in this session so I'll be realistic and aim for reducing my stash by 5 products. No purchases expect for staples.

Since I packed up some products to give away to family, I just had to replace the Jane Carter leave in spray that I don't like anymore. I bought Elasta QP H2 leave in to try out. I also picked up Silicon Mix. I'm curious to find out if it lives up to all the hype.

I finally sold the Joico K-Pak reconstructors.

Used up:
Ors Creamy Aloe shampoo sample
Matrix Intensive Strengthening Masque

I plan on using the Mizani True Texture samples next wash. I hope they are moisturizing.

The tough part of this for me is that a lot of these products are what I had while transitioning. I want to find out what can stay and what can go so I can get a good regimen going for my natural hair.

I'm going back to washing my hair twice a week so I know I'll be posting in here more often again. Right now I'm working my way through a tube of Paul Mitchell treatment conditioner. And I'm almost done with my bottle of grapeseed oil.

I've been experiencing good results using NTM silk touch when I Layer it on my hair after spritzing it in the morning and evening. I seal with oil or shea butter and my hair soft and happy! I'm excited because I may be able to use that up faster than I anticipated.

I've decided that if I have a product that doesn't work so well, I'm going to try to add oils or mix it with a couple things to get it usable or try it as a prepoo. I really want to keep from throwing things out.

I think I'm at a standstill. All I really have left to get rid of is these stupid Suave conditioners. I can't give away some $1 conditioners without feeling tacky. I guess I will be in the second session. I'll be co-washing like a maniac this summer.

It's unseasonably hot outside so maybe start co-washing a bit sooner.

Ok I'm still buying but I'm only trying to take advantage of the sales. :yep:

I bought SM Smoothie because I only have 1 more use of the SM Milk. And I don't have any other leave-ins.

I bought a bottle of the Nubian Heritage Keritin Wrap Heat Protectant and a bottle of the Nubian Heritage Keritin Heat Protectant Spray. I don't have any heat protectant in my arsenal and nothing to do a roller set. Both of these are natural and it was buy 1 get 50% off.

It is not my intention to buy anything else. In April I do plan on finishing up the SM Milk and the SM Mist.

I also intend to start styling my hair with gel again so I will finish using up both of my gels in April and May.

I do want to try the Nubian Heritage Conditioners but I am going to make myself wait. Maybe I will buy 1 for my birthday in April.

I have some oils I really want to get rid of (wheat germ oil and flax seed oil). Maybe I will make them body oils. I hate them on my hair.

I gave away KeraCare Natural Textures Leave In Conditioner.

I used up the last of Silk Elements Megasilk Olive Oil conditioner.

I purchased more of Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque. This is my staple DC. Love it!

I'm in for session 2, at this point it's a necessity!

1. What are your motivations for joining this challenge? I'm a 2L law school student and I want to be able to pay off the interest on my student loans before it capitalizes. In order to do that I've got to cut my spending and one of my biggest expenses are haircare products. So I've got to figure out a way to use what I have and scrutinize every purchase made from here on out. Hopefully I can learn new and inventive ways to use products I'm not in love with. How to possibly stretch products I love and find a suitable home for products I just can't stand.

2. List the products you hope to use up in your stash.

I think I have done well on this challenge. Apart from rinse out/co-wash and deep conditioners, I am down to staples on everything else. We might be moving again in June so I am not buying anything until I get the rest down.

Is Session 2 going to be here as well or will another thread be created?

UPDATE: It's been weeks since I used my staple DC ... it might not be a staple after all. I haven't really needed it. Same thing with BRBC, I like AOHC better so I won't be restocking it. Also looking for a *truly* natural replacement for Organix shampoo and conditioner - if I don't find something, I'll be returning to them though.

Staples

Qhemet Biologics AOHC
Sunny Isle JBCO (extra dark)
Sunny Isle EVCO

Give Away

Dove Intensive Repair Conditioner
African Pride Oil
Creme of Nature Argan Oil Replenishing Sheen Spray

Use Up

Qhemet Biologics BRBC
Organix Coconut Milk Shampoo
Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner

i used my matrix bolage hydratherapie balm today i think i might have one more use left in the tube then it will be gone:)

One thing I am NOT allowed to buy anymore of, no matter what is OIL. I will have this oil for the rest of my life. Now I know where my addiction lies and I can start curing myself :ohwell:

Finally used up something :yay: Used up my SM Milk.
Also used up one of my AO White Camellias

Going to use some of my JC Nourish and shine until I mix m SM Smoothie with some oils.

Flat twisted my hair. Almost at the last of my SM Mist and my Joie Naturals Gel. I think I have 2 more uses.

I still have a lot of my shea butter mix left but each time I style my hair I get to use a bit more :yep:. Not sure I will ever buy shea butter or any butter again.

Checking in! Haven't gotten rid of anything yet... actually bought three things since joining the challenge. *hangs head in shame* Currently working on using up most of my conditioners: Jason Biotin Conditioner, Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner, and Roux Porosity Control Conditioner. Been mixing them with coconut oil for my pre-treatments.

Decided to just throw out my tub of unrefined shea. I was never able to make it work for me. So, one more product down.

Been a minute since I checked in since I was taking a break for school. In my absence though, I managed to make a considerable dent in my stash. I also had myself on a no buy (which ends tomorrow), so no new products.

What I used up
Herbal Essences Hydralicious Reconditioning Conditioner
Pantene Curly Hair Solutions Dry to Moisturized Conditioner
Miss Jessie's Super Sweetback Treatment
Bronner Brothers Foam Wrapping Lotion
Miss Jessie's Rapid Recovery Treatment
Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat
Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Pak

I also got rid of 3 leave-in samples, and I'm working hard on a treatment conditioner and gel.

I'm really glad I did this. I learned a lot about my hair and product preferences from being forced to use what I had. I still have some PJ tendencies, but I'm definitely not wanting to try everything from every line now.
