*Update* on my Dominican Blow Out adventure....

Okay so its been barely a week since my blowout and........my hair sucks!! :wallbash: I have been running everyday and of course the sweat has caused my hair to swell. :wallbash: And four+ months with out a relaxer for me is nothing pretty. LOL! So I feel like I pretty much wasted the $60 they charged for the Blow-Out because I didn't get the "use" out of it that I would've hoped.

So far this week I have been baggying for 1-2 hours a day. (This is after I have already sweated out DBO) Usually during my run and moisturizing in the morning and again in the evening before bed. I'm preparing my hair for the relaxer I am getting this weekend. I've decided to go with half-wigs/buns as my PS for the summer and I plan on staying away from the Dominican Salons. Guess it isn't my cup of tea. Definitely made my hair feel really thin and didn't like that at all.

*le sigh*

I'll post pics once my relaxer is in.

Sorry to hear of the experience you had with the DBO...But it seems as if you have a great plan for bouncing back from it. Best Wishes.HHG.
BTW..Thanks for the review..i've also started to see that i better find other styling options for the heat of the summer.

Sorry you wasted your money. Natural hair (or new growth in your case) + Heat = Reversion. Funny how hair doesn't respect the money we pay at the salon LOL If you ever do try it again I would suggest maybe in September when its less muggy out.

I was thinking about this last night and trying to remember my regimen when my hair was longer and more healthy and it was sooooo simple. :ohwell: The only thing that changed was a product I introduced (that literally fried my ends ) and a short stint with micros. So once I get my relaxer I will definitely respect my hair more and get back to the basics of taking care of it. I love this board for the tips on retaining length. I did find that I would get to a certain length (SL or a little below) and could never break past that, but with LHCF I am gaining knowledge and tools on how to blow past SL and beyond once I get my growth rate back to normal.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but I don't understand how you thought a blowout or any straight style would last through heavy sweating, baggying, and twice a day moisturizing....and why did they charge you $60? That's too much.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. But, the whole point of baggying is increased moisture and moisture = reversion.

^^^ OP do you think the baggying accelerated the reversion?

Today was my first official day of baggying. I went running Sun and Monday and then I only tied my hair back in a scarf and put a hat on hoping that if I kept it tied down it wouldn't swell. :perplexed But it did. :ohwell: So after running, I pulled a cool blow dryer through those two days to take some of the moisture out and let it airdry the rest of the time. (Wore a phony pony as PS) When I realized that the DBO was pretty much a wash (last night) when I got up to run today I put some Salerm 21 and EVOO on my hair and baggy'ed it before going running because I knew I was going to sweat and it was going to swell anyway.

I have a LOT of new growth so I knew that reversion was inevitable, I was just hoping to get at least two weeks out of the $$ paid for the DBO. *shrugs* Oh well....learned a lesson. LOL!

You live and you learn. It was my first one and I really only did it to give my hair some time between taking down my sew-in and getting my relaxer done. I wasn't sure HOW my hair was going to react to the DBO to be honest but it was presented as an option to buy time until I got my relaxer and I took it. Now I know what to expect and not to expect. Baggying just started that today, three days after I originally sweated out DBO, in preperation for my relaxer Friday. I have always moisturized my hair twice a day. at night I do my scalp and during the day, my hair/ends. I have no idea why they charged me 60 but I wont be going back so it's really a non-issue at this point. I figured it was too much that's why I decided I wouldn't be back.

Okay, well I was just wondering because I never paid more than $35 and I've heard of salons charging even less than that. My blowouts lasted until I washed my hair again....but, like Sylver 2 said, it's probably not a good idea to get one if you might sweat it out.

I only moisturize my ends when I'm wearing my hair straight, but you know what works best for you!
