Underprocessed + thinning = Sad day on the forum.

Okay...so I have been treating my hair like gold since Jan '07, and have really good results so far. Well, Sunday, I pre pooed with Suave, washed my hair with At One with Nature moisturizing shampoo, and did the 2 min Aphogee treatment followed by a deep conditin with Kenra.

Well, when it was all said and done! My hair looks stripped of all the mositure I was able to retain prior!!! I even notice thinning areas!!!! Now, I must advise that I am extremely underprocessed in certain areas and these are the areas that I see thinning out...I am so sad right now...I never tried the 2 min treatment before-I am thinking this was the culprit along with being underprocessed.

My question to all of you hair divas and guru's is, how do I get the moisture back!!! The thinning areas?

I currently take biotin 5000mcg, flaxseed, mutivitamin, and calcium...I generaly con wash every 2-3 days rollerset and airdry. I deep condition every Sunday, and poo or clarify as needed. I mositurize 2x day and seal with coconut oil or serum.

Please help!
thanks

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I think doing a corrective relaxer and shampooing w/a moisturizing poo and DC atleast 2x's a wk your hair should bounce back. Sometimes it's hard for some of us to deal with more than one texture and we don't realize it until it starts taking a toll, but good thing you realized it now. Another thing is it may not be as thin as you think since you have two different textures sometimes the NG makes the already relaxed ends look thinner than they really are. HTH's

I'm sorry you're sad southernvixen...it's gonna be ok. Didn you use the aphogee balancing moisturizer after you did the aphogee protein treatment? That's SUPER important! Its one of the only products that will correct the moisture balance and is a must after every aphogee treatment! There's a great thread about Aphogee, PM supercharged and porosity control which says , after you do an aphogee protein treatment to apply PM supercharged for fifteen minutes, rinse, then apply porosity control for fifteen minutes and rinse. I use all three, first the balancing moisturizer, then the PM, and then the porosity control and the results are nothing less than amazing. Moisturized, soft, strong, shiny, tangle free hair! Please try it if you haven't already;) Good luck and keep us posted on what happens!

Thanks for the suggestions Beautifulwideyes and Andreaninnis! How soon should I do a corrective?...it's only been 2 wk.
Andreaninnis, I have not heard of the porosity thing, but I will be doing my research and more than likely-jump on that bandwagan!
thanks again. :)

It's really up to you, if you think it's suffering too much from the 2 textures I would do it soon. I know for myself and alot of others that the conditioner that comes with the Aphoghee treatment is NOT moisturizing enough, I use Nexxus Humectress and my moisture is replaced in 15 min. but hair is still nice and strong.

Porosity Control is great you'll love it, it's great for detangling and helps the hair to obsorb moisture and chemical services go much smoother.

I would just continue deep conditioning and babying the hair. Also, you may want to try prepooing with oil & a cheapie con warmed before you poo.

I second the Porosity Control rec, and I'd say wait another 3-4 weeks before doing a corrective.

Took the words right outa my mouth. I totally agree!

I think a corrective might be a good idea, I recently had a relaxer nightmare... 1 they didn't pull it down to cover all of my new growth, & 2 the areas that it did touch...it didn't really take. I waited cornrowed for 4 weeks. Week 5 I did a protein treatment. Week 6 I went back for a re-do and now everything seems to be fine.

You can make it through this. Just don't rush it and try not to do too much to your hair while you wait for the corrective.:D

Hey pamsc29210

You're my hair twin! I started out with the same length in December and now I'm at the bottom of my neck. Your hair is healthier. I would suggest, like all the other ladies, to deep condition and moisturize like crazy. I've never done the reconstructive thing; my hair is too weak for that. I've been underprocessed for a while, but I've made it 4 weeks with moisturizing everyday (twice a day) and deep conditioning twice a week. It really helps.

I mostly bun everyday, so I don't really have to mess around in my hair.

Good luck and keep us posted!:p

OMG>>>thanks to all of you for the wealth of knowledge I rec'd. I think I will try to make it to 6 weeks post before I "correct" and I will definitely be adding porosity control to the regiment. I will keep you all posted in about 4 weeks.:)
