I don't know if this has already been posted, or if I am posting this in the wrong section, but since a lot of you purchase products from Sheldeez, I thought that you might be interested in this article. I don't know how reputable this site is, but here's the link:

I actually think Shaldeez is in the wrong, the company has done this with many other product brands such that you keep coming back to his site. There have been many times when in an attempt to not buy from them (slow shipping) and I think I finally have another site that carries what I want I end up back on their site. I'm sure anyone who is into business will think this is a smart move on the part of Shaldeez but it comes across as greedy and kinda selfish to me. However, imo Avlon should just buy the name from them like anyone else who wants a domain that is taken.

As far as I know, The owner is Sheldeez is not violating KeraKare's trademark. Things regarding the internet and identity is a tricky matter. It boils down to intellectual property. However, I think that it really stinks that KeraKare, if the article is true, is being so petty. If they are making money off of the traffic to this man's site, they should be willing to split the proceeds with him.

Even if you type in something like African american hair you will get directed to Shaldeez. I find it so annoying.

Note: Not those exact words but when I was trying to find hairboards a few years back I kept getting shaldeez.

Sheldez doesn't have a good legal argument...sorry...

I agree.

[it's unflattering to say, but the article didn't seem to care about relative objectivity in reporting...it read less like a news item and more like a resentful diary entry imo, lol...sorry to go OT]

He can buy many and all domains that he wants. There are many people who do this for profit and to sometimes off unregistered corporations. They then turn around and sell the domains for thousands of dollars.

Why doesn't Keracare just buy the domain name from him? A lot of celebs buy domain names from people who have registered them. The lawsuit might cost them just as much -- especially if Sheldeez wins -- then they might end up with their legal fees and HIS. On top of that, there is the immeasurable cost of bad publicity.

Keracare had better hope that word of them suing an African-American owner does not get around our community. Its products are alright, but we can always find substitutions. I know that this had made me consider not restocking my Keracare when I am through with it. I don't think that Humecto is that great anyway -- it's too thin/runny. Adding peppermint to shampoo or using Loreal Nature's Therapy Scalp Relief shampoo is the same as using their Dry and Itchy Scalp Shampoo (which is a bit drying anyway) and I can use Creme of Nature instead of their Hydrating and Detangling Shampoo. Thanks for sharing this with us. Please keep us updated on how this progresses.

That's silly. And the companies that have sacrificed their sales by not selling to sheldeez, did KeraCare pay them off? If KeraCare had the money to do that, why not pay Art for his domain? If this action is truly illegal, I think they should get sued and hopefully that part would be summarily taken care of. As for the main suit, KeraCare needs to get a life. You want to get something for nothing in business, please. I think it was also silly of them all these years to name their site "avlon.com." At first, when I used to search for it, I'd find a website domain named only according to numbers, eg 120.310.25.45/keracare.html (just an example, not actual website...lol). It's not Art's fault that he grew a brain and registered the domain. KeraCare should pay.

Same here. Most searches bring up thousands of Sheldeez and Cathy Howse pages. :spinning:
