I hate the back of my hair :( I have been looking for a summer style in another thread and someone suggested that cw and twist overnight so i cw with suave hummectant and deman brush to get the tangles out twisted wake up the front is so pretty the back is like a dry frizzy bush i hate the back of my hair is it because i can't twist it well or what maybe hot oil treatments i figured when it started to grow out it would be just like the rest but it is hard to comb any one else hate a section of there hair

Are you natural? ok, i see you're transitioning........i'd try adding some setting lotion or a gel, nothing with alcohol in it though.

maybe your twists just need a little help setting themselves or maybe your hair is very dry (might need really good deep conditioning with a non-oily product).

is your hair good and wet when your done detangling? maybe once you're done twisting you can mist the twists really well to get them nice a damp.

what are you using when you twist? Are you making them small enough?

my last perm was june 04

maybe i am making the back section twist to big because it is hard for me to reach the crown back section sometimes i use curly pudding but lately i have been using just suave hummectant and it works great on the front

I have 3 different textures and to do braidouts and twistouts I have to use a little gel and some type of oil in my crown. The crown in the kinkiest part of my hair. The other two textures don't really need anything at all.

ok kewl!!

yea, i'd definitely try make those twists smaller. and don't be afraid to try something different on the back, sometimes our hair just does wierd things like that ;)!!

it is the crown area maybe i will try some ic gel in that area i want to have twist done by a professional but the african lady told me if she twisted my hair it would come apart and she would have to use rubber bands on the ends

 thanks kinchen.

your hair is pretty also - it looks very very soft!!

and if the fantasia (try that ICE one too) doesn't do it than try something else. happycurls got me hooked on LA Looks, i use the blue one and it's cheap :D. doesn't really leave that crunchy stiff feeling (for me anyway) even though it's supposedly for extreme hold and none of the ingredients are really bad.

you could experiment with the various types to see which one works good for you.

you can get them at any supermarket or drugstore.

First off, DivaStyle, your hair is beautiful. May I ask what gel you use? When I started this healthy hair journey, I threw away my curling iron and my gel...I used to carry black Ampro gel in my purse!! But now that I am a recovering gel addict, I think its safe to ease back into it, but the alcohol has me weary. What kind do you use? I heard Fruit of the Earth is good and Aloe Vera gel is a good choice as well.

Well here's the link to some photos I posted of my braidout
http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=123787&page=6&highlight=braidout

For that one I used biosilk for oil and some LA looks gel that I had in the cabinet from a long time ago. That thread has a lot of good advice for braidouts and twistouts.

I'm actually wearing a braidout right now. This time I used noodlehead (thanks to Pokahontas) and Smooth & Shine gel (thanks to Bublinbrnsuga...I think). I actually tried a wash n go yesterday that didn't work too well so I rewet it and braided it up. (My hair always dries huge and frizzy, no matter what I use on it when I try a wash n go.) Both of those products made my hair really soft. I've accepted that the braidout and twistout are the closest things I can get to a cute wash n go. I hope that helps you.
