Hey all..

The longer my natural hair is getting (and ive never experienced this before) the more harder the textures are to deal with!! Is anyone else feeling like its damn near impossible to style their hair anymore? Its starting to make me feel like im helpless...before ive transitioned for a year or two with no problem..its almost been a year but i dont remember it being this hard at all...

what are you ladies doing to combat the difference in texture? what are you doing to make sure the breakage is to a minimum? or is anybody too through like i am? im going to keep going on this trek- either that or ima be straightening this mess when i get my chi iron cos this is too much!

Ive also noticed my hair drier overall no matter how much i moisturize, no shmapoo or conditioner works at all---my hair is becoming really hard to work with!

I'm not a transitioner but I constantly stretch my texturizers to 6-8 months, this allows me to texturize about 2 times a year. To work with multi textures I co-wash every other day with a moisturizing conditioner (cheap ones work great...like V05 or Milk and Honey). I also do styles such as twistouts, braidouts and knotouts that lasts a few days or so and doesn't require much manipulation.

I either wear braids all the time!!! or I conditioner wash, then style my hair in a wet bun and slick it back, the pics are in my signature.

I CO Wash once a week deep condition every two weeks moisturize my new growth and ends every other day, and wear low maintenance/protective styles like buns, braidouts and phony ponies.

I may not be fully transitioning anymore but I know how you feel. I was at 6 months and my hair was getting to be...interesting. (see picture under new growth). It may have been my lack of skill in dealing with my hair, but it was a mess. I was afraid I would have to cut off all my hair!!
Good luck with your hair.

I use the denman d3 brush to blend the two textures. I only comb and brush my hair when its wet with conditioner.

Any pictures of this? Is it found at Sally's? I hope it isn't expensive...

I have a D4 bought at Sallys for 8-9 dollars. I have my trusty D3 that just wasnt happy trying to go through that much new growth. (you may not have that kind of problem but if your hair is thick, FYI)

What I can't seem to find (though I'm looking like crazy) is a nice big detangling comb without seams.
