In one week I would have gone two months without heat on my hair. That is a lot for someone who is married to her curling iron, three barrel iron, and flat iron. It was the best thing I did. I have been practicing a wash and go. As a result, hair is softer, the infamous M shape in the back and growing out and thin ends are growing and stretching out. Other contributors could be my hair pills but I think this was a huge factor. Just wanted to share and encourage all you ladies who find yourselves tempted by the iron each morning.

I'm doing a happy dance over here and enjoying the new growth.

Congratulations and stay with it! I fell off the band wagon last year after being heat free for nearly 6 months and then I went back to the curling iron. Guess what, after using it for 1 month (about 8 times in that period) I had to cut off 1.5 inches. Now I've been heat free for 4 months now. I got the growth back and then some. Next time, I will be much more cautious before using the curling iron again!! I will use a ceramic iron next time and a good heat protectant next time I decide to go straight.

Congrats. I too can speak the benefits of staying away from heat. I was once in a constant battle with split ends and not that has virtually ended and I know its because I stopped using heat. Like Lorraine I used to think I had to use heat, my blowdryer and flat iron were my best friends because I had to have that super straight look. Now im in love with the softness, fullness of my hair and I love experimenting with styles other than the super straight look. I am definetly gonna be sticking with the no heat method.

hopefully ill see the same benefits, i lpan on not using heat for a whole year. so far its been a month and a half
