Turns out afterall my hair is not...

Turns out

my hair is not 4a/b but more 3c/4a

the front of my hair is not wavy it is curly (I guess all of my bunning I did as a relaxed head pulled the curls and made them appear flat/wavy)

the back of my head is not slow growing and undefined; the curls are looser and the section comes second in growth to my crown

My hair is not thick like I thought it was back in the day. Yes, I heard the same thing growing up, that I had thick nappy, unruly hair. Not at all, my strands are thin and fragile. And the density is medium at best.

My texture is looser than I thought it was. I have coils which I never remember having growing up.

well...I've been natural since forever, but my HHJ started in 2009.

I used to think my hair was naturally dry. After a year and a half of not straightening (only once), I realized that the new hair is all soft and only the ends (old hair) are dry. The heat was drying it (I pressed every 2 weeks, and used a flat iron probably 1-2x per week).

I used to think my hair was thinner. But now that I stopped straightening and started using henna, it's thicker and I love it.

I used to think my hair was hard to handle. That was when I had 5.5" less hair, and would always fight against it. I no longer think that way now that I've learned to wash in sections and to let my hair dry stretched. I started working with my hair rather than against it, and it has responded positively.

I used to think my hair wasn't curly, and I thought the front was destined to be limp and nearly straight. Now I know it most definitely curls up. Plus, the front was only limp and wavy because of heat damage. Now it's curly.

I used to think there was no hope for my hair so I just kept doing the same ol' same ol' (DAMAGE). But now, I like my hair and treat it well because over the past 1.5 years I've seen beautiful progress and I've realized that it DOES grow!

...in total hatred of oils. Thanks to castor oil rinsing, tangles and shed hairs slip out with ease. Thanks to learning about what ceramides do, hemp seed oil serves as both my hot oil treatment and sealer on soaking wet hair.

It turns out my hair was NOT thin! I was so surprised and I just noticed it this past weekend. I had not been blow drying just airdrying and now that my hair is texlaxed instead of relaxed bone straight my hair is full and fluffy just like all the weaves I used to put in my hair :lick:

If I had known that before I could have saved alot of money on my bimonthly 2 packs of 1b yaki 12 inch :lachen:

Who knew I could grow the hair I was buying all these years???!!:yep:

my natural hair isn't into expensive products...i mostly use bss products under 10 bucks...and i'm doing great!

like many of the women I realized my hair wasn't as thick or coarse as people thought. It also isn't totally dry and my scalp isn't dry. My scalp is oily, my hair is a normal dry with thick strands but thin textured like you can kinda see through it but that may be part of my scalp issue. I also realized I DON'T need instant conditioner I use water and only water and a wide tooth comb to detangle and my curls pop fine and then all I need is a light moisturizer or some jojoba oil to seal. I also realized my hair DOESN'T have to shed like crazy every summer lol. Last but not least my hair doesn't need to be dc'ed after washing but instead before, it protects me from having build up, weighed down hair, not to mention helps my hair not to be stripped

Turns out my hair loves castor oil JBCO I am speaking of! I tried regular castor oil yrs ago and thought no way can I use this! Well I was wrong, my hair thrives on it!

Also it turns out that all the or should I say most of the products made by black business owners such as Qhemet, KBB, Carols Daughter for example does nothing for me. Just the good old fashion home remedies.:yep:

And my hair also loves cw! I would have never thought, but that's where trial and errors takes place.:lick:

Oh, one more thing.......my hair is loving Womens One a Day vitamins too!

Sorry forgot to mention never thought I could retain 1-2 inches of growth per month consistently, but I am.

Turns out I am not a slow grower as I presumed earlier!

I've always know my hair to be thick and soft. I thought I was 4b but after stretching for 5 months I saw that I had a distinct curl pattern and I'm mostly 4a. I thought I had fast growing hair but I've only measured about 2 in of new growth after almost 6 months...that's not cool... oh well...

Turns out my natural texture does not hate oils, I just hadn't found the right ones; ceramide rich oils :lick:

My hair doesn't hate protein either. It just prefers light ones.
