I would love to rock this style, but how are folks wearing their hair underneath them?

Are there any good tutorials out there?

maybe in a braid pinned up? that's probably what i'd do.

i love the look, i wish i didn't look like a crazy person whenever i try to wear a scarf :(

I make four big braids and put my bonnet on underneath the turban.

I am currently in twists so I just cornrow them or braid them together in one plait and tuck under or twist them around like this. Then I put on a plastic cap or wrap Saran wrap before the headwrap. I'm used to it so no I don't suffocate and neither do my follicles.

I don't call my head ties turbans but I just refer to them as head wraps. Even when I do a tie that clearly resembles the genie's, I still just call it a headwrap.

I tried to create a tutorial once of my headwrap when someone asked me how I created the floral shape in the back, but I don't think my tutorial was very clear. :look: It was just diagrams--I suck at videos. I basically used a Pashmina scarf folded lengthwise, placed my head near one end and crossed the ends over behind my head. By placing my head near the end, I got I had a longer length that I could twist and wrap around my head. Once it had gone around my head, I used the other end to tie a bow. I then fluffed the bow out to create the "flower".

Then I just do variations of this.

The image you posted looks like a variation of this with the "bun" being in front instead of behind.

Nonie

You secretly have so much footage of your hair journey, experiments, etc

You be holding out girl !!

But I think I have an idea of how I want to do it, based on the videos I have watched. I just need to figure out where to purchase a scarf big enough to pull it off...

My hair is in cornrows, so I keep my silk wig cap on underneath my turban.

My fear with silk and other "slippery" fabrics is that the head wrap will slide right the hell off my head :look:

I would pass out

OMG brg240 that gif.....too funny.....sadly that's me also!

OP you should do a YT search then you could get a video on exactly how to do the style. I've seen some with a lil bit of hair out in the front like a poofy bang.

I'm in love with the look of turbans, now I just have to find some awesome scarves.

Pinned up, very high pony tail, flat twists...

Thank you ladies for the video links and of course Nonie for the pics :D
I haven't started doing this but I'm going to buy some scarfs this weekend and start.
