trim rough ends?

Should you cut rough ends, even though there's no split ends?

YES! There is usually a reason why your hair is rough on the ends. Usually because of SSKs that broke off or your hair had splits but the hair split so far up the shaft that it fell off and is making the hair rough and porous. Its just easier to clip the rough ends and start over new.

It depends on why they are rough. If you haven't trimmed or dusted your ends in a while then they may need a trim. But I have trimmed my ends and the following week they are rough again. For my hair a lot depends on what products I use, how I apply the products and how I treat my hair in between washes.

There is another thread around here that deals with this topic. There are quite a few reasons why your ends can feel rough and they talk about the various ways to resolve it.

If you have dusted/trimmed recently you may want to try some other options first. But if you haven't dust/trim and get a fresh start and see how that goes.
