OMG, I just looked at the pics and I love your final result!!! I'm so glad you took pics as you were cutting because it really puts into perspective how much you actually cut off.

Also, I love the scarf!

Good goin' girlie!

Congrats!

Your texture is similar to mine, so here's what works for me.

very little oil, a creamy leave in and clarifying at least once a week.

Okay, I went to the natural stylist. First of all, I waited a little over 3 hours before she even got to me. Then she told me that she could wash and condition it for me, but I had too many relaxed ends for her to style it. WTF!!! I don't know which one I'm more mad about: waiting as long as I did to not get it styled or the fact that I have to cut my hair SHORTER!!!

Well, that may explain why my ends are so hard; why my hair looks sooo good wet, but not dry; and why my wash n go looks a HOT MESS!!! :lachen:

So, right now I'm not certain if I even want to cut anymore. I'm SCURRED to go any shorter. What should I do???

Ms, why don't you just hold off on the cutting.

You're rockin it!!!

To me, it looks like you were on to something with the twist-out fros.

Keep doing those until you get a little bit more growth then go on and get rid of the rest of those ends..

As I read your posts I was thinking that left over relaxed ends was the culprit for your dry hair.

If you want to get things over with then I say go ahead and cut the remaining ends and do coils, wash n' go's, fro's, etc. If you want to keep the length you have now until you feel comfortable to get rid of the ends then continue wearing your twistout because it looks cute and it camoflauged the two textures.

Whatever you do, your chop looks great--- and so does that scarf (hinting that I would love for you to pass it my way)! lol ;)

Contrats! Yep...it takes a lot of bravery to make the BC. I did it a few years ago when I went natural for a spell. My family thought they were going to hate it, but really everyone loved it --- even my father who always seems to hate my hair LOL.

So congrats. I applaud your bravery and your being true to yourself.

Let me just say this. I am SO Proud of you!!!! I am relaxed and have come so close transitioning but didn't have and still don't have the guts to do that. You look so good in your pics. I love the headband gig and I must say, after the cut, its like your face opnend up. It's glowing! Please keep us updated on pics as you add them to your album.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I just haven't decided which one I want to do yet. :perplexed I am LOVIN' my curls/coils. So part of me wants to cut the rest so I can see my curls better. I don't know.

I love your twists! Sorry about your experience with the stylist- have you considered going to a different one? I think that since you've done such a beautiful job with the twist outs, you could wear them until you feel comfortable cutting more. Congrats!

I did the BC on Tuesday, December 12. I was going to do it in January. Then I saw this girl who's hair was just GORGEOUS. So, I called my stylist to see if she could get me in this week, but she couldn't. I had already warned DH that I was going to get it cut. He's not impressed with the idea of me going natural. So, I looked up the thread about ladies that BCed themselves. Then I went upstairs and did it. I did it mostly on dry hair. And I just used my conditioner spray mix for spots where it was hard to find the demarcation line.

The next day, I wore a fall. And that night I did twists, for a twistout the next day. The second day, I took the twists out. And I got the confidence to rock my TWA to work. I know, after all that on how I admired those that had the confidence to rock the TWA. Now I can admire myself too. :D I figured, if I totally disregarded how my HUSBAND felt about my hair, why the H%$# should I care about what people at work thought. So, I wore my hair out. And to boost my confidence even more, everyone at work LOVES it on me. It's still growing on me though. It's just been a minute since I've had short hair.

I'm a little confused about my hair though. Because my new growth was extremely soft. But my TWA is hard and kinky. But if I run my fingers through the middle of my hair (meaning in between the scalp and ends), it's soft. So why are my ends so hard and kinky???

I go to a natural stylist today. I think I will get a twistout or coilout. And I will post more pictures. Oh yeah, I have updated my Fotki to show the BC. The password is softhair. Check it out!! Oh yeah, and thanks to ALL of you ladies for being my support system, for answering my questions when I PMed you, for asking questions that I had as well, and for giving me the courage to start this journey in the first place. :D

Congrats MissTwana! I haven't checked out your pics yet. I'm about to go in a minute. But you might just need to DC your hair. Mines feels kinda sparse around the edges when it isn't moisturized. I usually put an ORS pak on it and it's good to go.

ETA: I just looked and it looks good!! Go head girl!

congrats, your hair is beautiful!! I would say focus on doing deep treatments and always putting some kind of leave in and you hair will be soft and moisturized in no time!! Your bc looks great on you! Don't worry too much about the hubby, mine hated my natural hair in the beginning, now he hates the look of straight hair on me and adores my natural dos:)

Congratulations girl! Love the texture, and your afro (not so tweeny weeny) and your twistout looks great.

I spent the first weekend doing a S&D to get rid of the rest of my relaxed ends. It took my hair a couple of weeks to get into the natural groove, which was fine, because that's about how long it took me to feel really comfortable with short hair. If the twistouts are working for you, then you can wait to get the relaxed ends cut until you gain another inch. I don't think it would make much difference to your appearance though--you look very pretty with natural hair.

Ahhh. Ya'll do not understand how good you are making me feel!!! Thanks sooo much!!! I think I may need to get some braids now, cuz I CAN NOT keep my hands out of my head. I love the feel of my coils. And I keep trying to seperate them, which keeps bringing me to a tangle at the ends. :(

Okay, I think I've got the twistout thing down now. But my question is, how do I maintain it?? When I sleep on my hair, it looks a HOT, MATTED MESS the next day. And it takes so long to twist it that I don't wanna have to do that EVERY night. So what's a girl to do??? I don't really like the way my hair looks with a wash n go. All of my curls are hidden. And I don't know if it's the relaxed ends that are hiding them, or if it's just my natural hair that doesn't have a curl pattern. But I guess rinsing it in the morning is my only option if I don't feel like twisting it the night before!! :perplexed

I updated my album with a few more pictures. I have micro braids now, and I have some pictures of those as well. The password is softhair, link in my siggy.
