When I was in my 20's, I went natural for 4 years. I had gotten crochet braids and figured why bother perming since my hair was going to be covered and it wouldn't matter if it was straight or not. So I didn't relax and next thing I knew it was 2 1/2 years later and I was fully natural. I had no intentions of becoming a natural, the time just went by and I was.

While washing and detangling this evening, I realized that I haven't relaxed in 7 months. Haven't even thought about it. I am going back to my old hairdresser this Saturday and have her cornrow my hair so I can hide it under wigs for the winter. If I like it, I may continue with this method until who knows when and may end up natural again. While this won't be exactly like the first time years ago because I will actually be planning to do it this way, just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? No dramatic BC, just sort of didn't care about perming or figured you would get around to it eventually and...didn't?

lol, yep!
I got my second to last relaxer before going off to college.
Got there and realized I couldn't afford the upkeep or time it took to care of relaxed hair, so I would save up and get my hair braided or twisted when I could. In between I straightened with my blowdryer and flat iron.
Before I knew it I'd been transitioning for 5 years!
Now I'm transitioning on purpose after realizing my hair did much better without the relaxers.

LOL! I didnt know there was a real term for growing out your perm. I transitioned because my beautician stopped returning my calls. I didnt go that often enough for her. So I figured I could flatiron my hair if I wanted it straight and go to a salon in the mall for a trim. That was about 3 or 4 years ago.

i am about to. i recently found myself in advertently stretching to 12 weeks because i simply lost count. i ended up relaxing but I am going to invest in a good flat iron and watch some tutorials and see how far I can go.

I went without a perm for like 4 or 5 months because I was wearing braids. I didnt plan to transition but I just wanted to give my hair a break. And you know when you take braids out you shouldnt relax the next day so I went to a stylist for her to press the roots. Then I just decided to keep pressing the roots until I grew out the perm.

I went to a college away from home so didn't have the money to get my hair relaxed besides my mum always did it for me. Before I realized it time had passed (still don't know how long I transitioned) and didn't realized I was natural until someone pointed it out to me.
