Top professions that cheat

I don't buy that doctors/surgeons cheat more than most professions, at least without breaking it down by type of surgeons. I'll admit I have bias here. My father's a surgeon and he'd never cheat on my mother. I know a lot of surgeons who are married and don't cheat on their spouses either. My mother's a SAHM and she's completely devoted to my dad. In fact all the SAHMs I know are. That said, I'm surprised business men and finance aren't on there.

I dunno about this article.:ohwell:

Maybe it's like what NaijaTroll said, they don't get a caught. Most of the women in my family are/were SAHMs and they are all truly devoted to their husbands. Even I never actually caught any of my doctor exes cheating. However, I will say that I consider my exes and all the SAHMs I know to be the most secretive people I know (even sneaky to an extent).

Im a nurse....and i look great in my scrubs :lol:The only docs I have been attracted to are the westernized sri lankan and indian docs  of course they are already married  Matter of fact I think day shift nurses are more prone to cheat with docs than night shift becaue night shift rarely interacts with the physican. At least at our hospital. Its mostly residents,sPA's and NP's at night that we contact to come to the floor if we have issues. During the day its the complete opposite and the attendings are there.

I get what you're saying which is why I said there are always exceptions to the rule. There are great people in every field, and also some jerks. I'm betting though that certain fields attract more of people with certain "mindsets"...that's all I'm trying to say.

These articles seldom get it all right. It's hard to do research and get straight answers from people as well. How many lied, etc?

I wonder if this covers all races...I know 3 black guys that are Doctors, one still in school and they all act like the are scared of p* to me.
I think one is still a virgin to be honest, but none of them come close to being the type of guys that would cheat and I would say my cheat-er-meter goes hard! :yep:

Doctors and teachers are most likely to cheat, according to AshleyMadison.com, a dating site for married people. Last year, 1.9 million people signed up for the site and these were the top professions for each gender:

For Men:
1. Physicians
2. Police Officers
3. Lawyers
4. Real Estate Agents
5. Engineers

For Women:
1. Teachers :perplexed
2. Stay-at-home Moms
3. Nurses
4. Administrative Assistants
5. Real Estate Agents

eta: This was talked about today on the radio. I know it's not new.

Wow...hmm...that's kind of interesting how "Real Estate Agents" are on the list for BOTH genders. That profession wouldn't automatically come to MY mind as one where people are more than likely to cheat. :scratchch Hmmm...I guess there's more than "open houses" going on in that profession... :giggle:

Why SAHM's? Is it because they have lots of free time?

I think that's one factor, and I also think the fact many of them have husbands in professions that frequently keep them physically and/or emotionally unavailable so the women are left all alone (minus the kids) on multiple levels. Being a SAHM can be lonely at times. I grew up watching women like this.

I knew police and attorneys would be on the list before I opened it. I bet that if it went down to 10, barbers would be somewhere on the list.

yup. no matter how hot they look in their uniforms, i wouldnt mess with a police officer. and their power trips too......no.

Not surprised at the lawyers, doctors and police officers. I AM surprised at the engineers and real estate agents. REAL ESTATE? When? For why? Huh?

Every lawyer I knew, prior to going to law school, was a cheater. A close friend was with one for seven years and engaged to him. He was an awful cheater. His thing was, he was a nerd in hs and undergrad. He became the man once he got that JD and he lost his mind. Another friend lost her marriage very soon after her awful husband passed the bar. Before the bar? He was a faithful homebody. After the bar? It was to hell in a handbasket.

I would be afraid to date a cop. Not only do I believe they cheat, but I also believe they have abusive tendencies moreso than other types of men.

Now...ENGINEERS? Really? How? I hate Ashleymadison.com btw.

I don't know why people are really surprised about real estate. You have to interact with a lot of people, so they tend to be extroverted. I would also assume agents have to know how to present themselves (looks, clothing, etc) in an attractive manner in order to build trust.

Last, and most importantly, they are in sales so those types of personalities are somewhat aggressive. There's also the ability to manipulate your schedule so you could do your dirt around the clock without missing a beat.

I say this from a standpoint of not being in real estate. But from what I gather IRL, certain personalities do gravitate to a profession or change in order to get ahead in a profession. I agree with a previous poster that some people do change. I know I definitely have been infinitely more assertive and direct this year because of my job.

I don't know about engineers... Maybe it's the long project hours they spend working in groups?

This is interesting myself and hubby are physicians , let's just hope no one is cheating:look:. jk!!!!!:lachen:

Wait a minute now... wasn't there just an article out saying that women cheat way less when they are SAHMs? I remember some of our resident feminists getting huffy about that.

eta: I'm surprised to see engineers on the list.

eta 2: Everyone and their momma knows that doctors and nurses STAY cheating. BUT: lots of dudes who CLAIM to be doctors on Ashley Madison are doing that to get more clicks. And everyone knows men have that naughty nurse fantasy, so maybe there are some chicks perpetrating like they are nurses too. I mean, nobody fantasizes about banging the Hardee's cashier.

Many of them travel alot for work

to me any profession/job where there is alotta down time..overtime..time not accounted for leaves enough room for anyone to venture off into debauchery

im working over time...
i have a late client meeting...

a cheater will cheat...

Yes, and on top of that, many of them are nerds who are regarded as superstars at their jobs, so a lot of the philandering goes on in the job place with executive assistants, lab techs, etc.

Even my dad has told me that he's never met an honest cop. When my sister started dating one, he didn't like it to much at first.

Was there an actual survey conducted on this site? If so, what questions did they ask, and how many people responded?

How many of these people are really in the profession they claim to be in from this site?

How many were answering the questions truthfully?

How did they define cheating?

Is this really a representative sample? (In other words, maybe "fast food workers" shoulda made that list, but they probably don't use that website.)

Okay, I'm going on a tangent (I know), but I'm just sayin...

Wowwww..a dating website for married people?????
Da*n--does marriage mean anything anymore to any1????

SIDE NOTE: Yeah that is quite disturbing. I was floored when I saw that something like this existed. It has 8.7 million members. :nono: I think I am going to stay single.....

I don't understand why some guys think nursing is sexy. Nursing has to be one of the 'unsexiest' professions ever. Nothing sexy about scrubs, nothing sexy about wiping poop and scooping vomit. Nothing sexy about medications and shots and documentation.

When I get home from work I move through my apartment like I have hazmat on me. Sexy? NOT! Folks are delusional.

Part of the fantasy for them is being taken care of or catered to

These top professions are not that shocking, and I can believe them. But I have 2 questions.

1) Do we really know that people are being honest about what jobs they have. I mean, this is a site predicated on lying to someone (usually your spouse). I mean, how do we know that a bunch of men aren't signing up as "physician" to impress women on this dating site?

2) Are these in raw numbers, or by ratio? The top 5 professions of cheating women don't seem very far off from the top 5 professions for women period.
