Hello Ladies I changed stylist and I am a victim of two tight braids.I told her over and over again that she was braiding too tight but she just made jokes about me being tender headed. I am so stupid. My head was banging when I was there and I still paid her because I thought the pain would go away. I cried when I left which is crazy because I have a high pain tollerance. That was last week. Now my scalp is burning from where my hair has been pulled out by the roots. The bad thing is that this is the best looking weave I have ever had. What would you guys do if you were in this situation? Should I spray it with Sea Breeze and leave it in or would you take it out?

Hello. I might be in the minority but i would take it out. I know you spent your hard earned $$$ but the long term affects of your hair slowly being pulled out arent worth it. You will probably end up getting more weaves just to cover up the damage. Just my humble opinion.

ITA w/ ATLien. Take it out. Its been a week, normal tightness goes away after 1-2 days.

Have you talked to the stylist about either getting a full/partial refund? I would say let her redo it....but she may end up doing the same thing again!

oopps i voted wait it out by accident! i think you should take it out the money isnt worth the long term effects

I would take some pictures first (since you said it is the best weave you have had) and then take it out. I know it's hard when you spent that much money, but in the end you will have some cute pictures and a full head of real hair.

Take it out, sweetie! Money is replaceable, but your hair is an invaluable asset that may or may not grow back.

Please take it out. Take it from someone who wore many a too tight weave. It may look good but your follicles are being stretched to the limits and are screaming for mercy under those tracks! It's not worth loosing your hair over, trust.

I would go back and have her redo it or give you a partial refund then go to someone else. But you would run the risk of her doing the same thing.

$200 and you look good? Wow, then leave it in cause ......obviously you don't value own hair.
Understand?

Thank you guys for telling me what I already knew. I just get so frustrated because I cannot find anyone in my area who can do a decent weave but who actually knows anything about haircare. I either find someone who does a poor weave but is decent at hair care or someone who does a bomb weave but sucks at hair care. My natural hair is really short right now and I wore natural hair for about 8 years before I permed it and I don't like how my natural hair looks on me short. I also admit that I am a glamour queen. I am into edgy or big hair and I never felt sexy with a short natural so I wanted to wear weaves to grow it out and it really peeves me that I cannot find a good stylist. I am a yoga teacher so I needed something that would stay put if you know what I mean. There also are no good braiders around here so that is not an option either. Oh well, I will have to stay with wigs to grow it out....

Yeah, I was going to suggest wetting your scalp and braids to loosen them up, too, but I don't know. It's been a week and you're still in pain? Try wetting it and if the pain doesn't subside, I think you should take it out.

I know it sucks to lose the money, but would you rather suffer a set back? I would take it out, and I would also let her know how I felt about her ignoring my complaints that the braiding was too tight.

When a weave or braids are too tight, one trick I do has yet to fail me. I apply oil to my scalp, lots of it. Coconut oil is a good choice. Then take a steamy shower.

If that doesn't reduce the pain a bit, deep condition and rinse well, then let it air dry.

If it still isn't loosened up enough for comfort, then the weave needs to come out.

TAKE IT OUT. I was almost to shoulder length about a year and a half ago. I got a weave that was too tight and when I took the braids out, with each braid I had a hand full of my own hair! The braids were too tight and the thread was too and that thread cut through my hair. The longer you leave it in the more it's gonna cut through your hair. I had to cut my hair back down to SHORT, less than two inches. I almost cried. It's not worth having to start over from scratch. When I took it out I still had the length but you could see through my hair it was so thin.

I'm just glad I stumbled upon the site while growing my hair out again.

please, please, PLEASE call her back, and tell her to loosen them up, or take them out yourself. if you don't, you will sustain a LARGE amount of damage to both your hair and your scalp. i was victim to a too tight weave... my scalp was in pain for 2 weeks straight, and a month later, i took out the weave, to find that i had spots that were nearly bald. this was 2 years ago, and i'm still recovering.

from what i've read, if you're still in pain 2 - 3 days after a weave installation, then the braids were installed WAY too tight.

Try washing and deep conditioning. Squirt some oil or conditioner on the braids and massage it in. If you can't get it to loosen up within a day or so take it out or go back to the stylist and have her fix it.

You know what you need to do!!! Although I totally understand getting a great weave and spending your dough. But it is so much better to take it out now and hopefully save your hair then to take it out and your later 60 days from now.

As Spike would say "Do the right Thing"

Much Success with whatever you decide!!!

I just had some Tree braids installed on Tuesday and although it wasn't really tight it still left with a headache. I blame the headache on the fact that since I went natural...I haven't done anything to my hair other than wash n gos.

I took a advil and a nap, the net day it wasn't as bad. I use Aloe on my scalp...but if you are saying a WEEK later and they are still super tight and sore??

Better safe than sorry. :nono:

Take it out. I took out tree braids by Wednesday morning after an 8 hour install on Saturday. It was just not comfortable and I felt that my hair was being damaged. $75 wasted plus the cost of the hair but I felt much better with it taken out.

That tenderheaded thing is BS. My sister has been telling me that I'm tenderheaded since I was a child but it's totally not true. She just braids too darn tight. I have had braid based, sew-in weaves installed and different braided styles for the last 9 years but only when my sister braids my hair does my head hurt!:nono: My nape is mostly out right now because it was painful when my sister did my cornrows on Sunday. I had her take out a couple and redo them with the nape out.

My coworker said her freind got her weave too tight around the crown and her scalp BUSTED! OMG what the hek does that mean. I wouldnt wish that on anybody
