To My 'Wash and Go' Ladies - What do you use?

Im trying to find alternatives to wrapping/flat ironing my hair until I get some growth. So I tried da wash and go this morning.. its uh... interesting. :look: I did a cowash w/ Strawberries & Cream by V05, then used some NTM Leave in and a little bit of essential oil. It just looks kinda boofy (if thats a real word) and frizzy.

What do you find that works for you?

I do the same thing with the conditoner except I use Elucence as a leave in and no serum...if you want your hair to be less poofy your best bet maybe to leave as much water in your hair as possible...well it works for me anyway. It sucks because the water is dripping everywhere, but since its getting warmer it dries faster and isnt as uncomfortable. Plus I wear a towel over my shoulders. When you towel dry or squeeze too much water out, it causes mucho frizz and poofiness. However I have been using kinky curly custard to fight shrinkage as well and it works for me.

while my hair is sopping wet from washing.. I just squeeze excess water out and then spray with a detangler.. and then apply creme moisturizer(either herbal essences break's over or ORS hair moisturizer) and seal with oil(EVOO or sweet almond)

I use Beyond the Zone Noodlehead and it's my favorite for wng's. I have almost no frizz when I use it. Are you relaxed though, cuz i'm not sure how well it works for relaxed heads since it's a curling cream.

Are you relaxed Kels? You might have to do some extra stuff... I just use water and a heavy leave in. Sometimes I use fantasia gel on top.

Oh yah I did forget to mention - I am relaxed. So Im sure that adds another element to it. My last 'bone straight' relaxer was 4 weeks ago - this next relaxer (in about another 4 or so weeks) Im gonna texlax, which I think will help the 'wash and go' effect. And I did dry alot of the water out of my hair so that prolly didnt help the friziness.

What do you guys think about using Humectress as my leave in? I think its a little heavier than my NTM leave in. Im gonna try again tomorrow and see what I get.

I use numerous stuff for my wash and go right now I'm using sebastian sheer curl, oyin seal and shine serum, miss jessies buttercreme, I just bought carols daughter's hair milk and hair butter I have to try that out

I wash and condition then I use the cantu shea butter leave in. let that sit for awhile and once my hair mostly the ends start to get dry I use ORS olive oil or keracare hairdress....which ever one is closest and moisturize my hair then use EVOO for my scalp and to seal. I am relaxed to this gets it half way smooth but most of the time Im pullin it back in a pony or bun so I dont mind having it kind of puffy

I usually co wash with pantene relaxed and naturals, use a leave in, I try to scrunch out some water with my hands, DO NOT USE A TOWEL because that will give you frizz also. I then add whatever products I am using. Right now my favorite is SCurl Wave activator jel. I put my hair in four sections to make sure I am getting the jel in all parts of my hair. When I am done I hold my head upside down and scrunch. Then I usually walk around or watch TV with a towel on my shoulders.

pokahontas, i'm going to go out and try this based on your suggestion. where did you buy it?? i've heard really good things from this product.

Okay I came home and instead of towel drying, I let it stay pretty wet. I added Humectress, then ORS Carrot Creme then Keracare Oil. It took a bit to dry ( a couple hours actually) but I LOVE the outcome... I actually have defined curls instead of a frizzy mess!! Gonna try it again in the am.. hopefully this can be my protective style for the summer.

I haven't yet mastered the wash and go, I'm also relaxed and I sometimes get frustrated with advice from people with easier to manage hair texture (than 4 a/b) because their advice obviously won't work for me. My hair doesn't do cute curly stuff when it air dries. So I have to follow a different set of rules.

The only wash and go I've managed is to put in some sort of moisturizer, slick my hair back into a high pony, and put a phony pony on.

Aveda Brilliant Universal Styling Creme helps my damp hair to dry soft and pretty straight. So if I were to ever wash and go, I could really only do it with this product. Hair dries a little full, but it's not tangled, it's bouncy and relatively straight with a nice sheen, you might want to try it. I personally wouldn't mind going somewhere with my hair after putting that in. (you have to comb it the way you would want it to dry when it's wet).

I don't use a lot of products, but the ones I use I love, and that is one of 'em.

kels 823 I just wanted to say that I really like your quote, it's deep!

That's very true that if it's not important than you will find an excuse.

I am recently texlaxed but I can tell that my wash n go's are going to be the same, my hair just calmed down it didn't revert back to straight. So here is what I do co wash with my cheapie conditioner apply a liquid leave in conditioner and a creamy leave in conditioner on top of that. If I don't want it puffy I don't touch it and try to minimize shaking and all that. However, if I just don't care if its poofy or not I just go let the wind take it and all!!!

I saw it at Sally's and based on her suggestion and the fact that I know I am doing wash n go's soon I picked some up today....it wasn't all that expensive either, its normally 5.99 but I got it for cheaper with my Sally's card

Relaxed head here...I used BTZ and I was excited but I was just using it at the ends of my ponytail...see current siggy. The problem is when I used a lot of it for my whole head it left it dry and crunchy My new love is Smooth n' Shine Curl activator Gel.
I am so excited I found something that works. When my hair is wet it's semi wavy (relaxed hair). I co-wash then I scrunch with a towel, then I just apply some of the gel and scrunch. When my hair is completely dry I have soft waves and curls it's amazing. Trust me my hair doesn't normally dry like this it actually created more waves and curls with the product.

My hair is relaxed I have 3C hair.

I've used it. It should be fine. You might have to scrunch a little but I think you can do a wash n go. I revisited my tube of Noodlehead last night and it worked pretty good.

I usually used BTZ noodlehead, but this last time I just wet and air dried with cheapie con as a leave in. I luved my curls.:)

That's pretty much my method.

After washing/conditioning i rinse my hair out squeez the excess water out ...use S-curl Moisturizer finger it through then EVOO finger it through and let it air dry ...if im pressed for time i use a diffuser to dry it lightly

I conditioner wash with a cheapie conditioner, then apply a leave-in (usually Giovanni Direct or Qhemet Olive Detangling) and an aloe vera gel, and "go."

Lately I have been washing with DevaCare No Poo then conditioning with DevaCare One Conditioner. I then apply PM The Conditioner as a leave-in and PM Foaming Pomade, scrunch and go!

Been working very well - I received multiple compliments on my hair yesterday and today! Sounds like a keeper regimen!

BTZ didn't work for me, but using leave in conditioner works wonders.:) I'm relaxed so now to get maximum curl definition, I just have to scrunch my hair for a few seconds, then its OK. When I was natural, I never had to scrunch at all.

i guess castor oil or that miss jessie stuff would help with shrinkage. my curls look great when soaking wet but then it shrinks and shrinks and shrinks:(

From any BSS or mall beauty supply store like JC Penney, Master Cuts, or Trade Secret.

HTH

And thanks!

You might have to "fake" the wng look. have you tried damp setting your hair the night before w/ twists, and then putting rods on the ends to give you a curl? You would want to use some kind of setting lotion(lottabody) in a spray bottle might work, or a molding wax. This way you can kinda have the look, and just be really gentle when you take it out in the morning. Good luck to you :)
