Geez... this is SOOOO middle school....

I wasn't going to say anything until I saw a particular post....:ohwell:

The internet is a VERY PUBLIC PLACE....

Oh Goodness...I knew I shouldn't have started this thread! I am trying to get admin to delete it; I try not to do childish things, I am growing up, so please excuse my "little girl" moments.

Don't feel bad hun. It hasn't amounted into any serious drama. It'll be alright. :yep: If you sent the mods a msg, they'll take care of it as soon as they get back.

I'm a member of both sites although I can't remember the last time I posted there. They have a very specific purpose over there and make no bones about it. I still visit the site but I see a lot of the topics and I'm like "Are you serious?"

I won't knock it though because it serves a purpose for a lot of people. I just feel like I've outgrown the site for the most part.

DITTO:yep::yep:

I remember my very first time on the website. I thought that since I had a "silkener" I was technically "natural" cause my hair was still curly. I didn't know any better but that didn't matter. Most of them attacked me like I was the enemy.
:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

That's the only thing I miss about the site: the always hilarious group beatdowns in the hair section. Sorry, Amarech, I know getting jumped on can hurt but you probably got confused for the trolls who would roll up in there with clearly relaxed and weaved up hair and try to pretend they didn't know they weren't natural. :lachen::sad:

I remember when I posted over there too. When I described my hair texture, one poster had the nerve to tell me that basically, my hair wasn't "nappy" enough. And then some jumped on me for frontin. That real nappy hair wasn't my hair texture and this was a board for the "real" naturals.

I was like :computer:

Okay I'm still prettymuch a newbie so I didn't even realize that there was some informal animosity between LHCF & Napturality. And of course I read their thread. But immediately my thoughts left hair & maybe I'm going too deep but I have a question for everyone... Do you ever see white women separating themselves from each other b/c some sunbathe & some do not? Do you ever see them separating themselves b/c some get a curly perm to have textured hair & some do not? We find all sorts of ways to divide ourselves & it's so disheartening. When I decided to become natural it wasn't because of some militant movement. My hair texture definitely doesn't determine how black I am. With or w/o a relaxer I am for my people and the issues that plaque them all day everyday. I was thinking about relaxing & it was women on here that kept me encouraged. And even if I decide to relax, I know it will be the same women on here that will still encourage me. I will just say that reading their thread made me so disappointed in my sisters. We have to do better!:perplexed

white women don't separate themselves about hair. But they do separate themselves based on weight and beauty.

I kinda think it's the "sour grapes" mentality. You know the whole thing where the wolf couldn't reach the grapes so he says, "they were probably sour anyway".

I kinda feel that when I go to their board. Let's face it, natural hair, comes in many textures, but the majority of AA women that have natural hair has the traditional hair that in the past was called "nappy" or "kinky" and not in a good way either. That's why so many women started getting relaxers, because it was easier to manage and more permanent than hot combing.

Now some of these ladies still are unsure about their natural hair. They may not have the kind of natural hair that their SO other people like that's around them. Maybe they don't feel as beautiful. Maybe they are not growing their hair long and doesn't think it can be done. Maybe they really buy into the notion that "black hair does not grow long" because they don't see a women with true 4b or 4z hair swinging past their shoulders. I don't know.

But what I do sense is that these posters are very into their hair, and anybody that does not fit their description of "natural" hair gets targeted. Whereas here, the sistas on this board understands and ACCEPTS the full range of natural textures, they understand their textures when it's not natural and know how to take care of their hair relaxed or whatever. Not breaking off like they think all relaxers do.

Now I can be wrong as hell. But that is just my underlying feeling :user:

Yes and yes. I even see white women divided amongst themselves over who has more of an ass, whose eyes are "true blue" (as opposed to gray or greenish), and whose hair is the best dyed shade of blonde. Not kidding. I grew up among them. I agree with the message of your post but can we stop acting like white folks have the unity game down? They're just as divided as other groups are.

Ain't That the truth. I never thought I would be descriminated against from my own people because I got a relaxer.......things that make you go hmmmmmmmm

Geez Louise, people take themselves too seriously sometimes ! I can't see why someones going to get their koolaid all stirred up about what someone else does with their hair. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but there's no need to be rude and juvenile over someone else's decisions when it's not hurting anyone. And chemical fire cream? Get over yourself please :look:. Let people do as they please as long as no one's getting hurt.

ETA: I'm sure not all the women on the other site are as 'militant' as a few in the thread mentioned were. I'm sure there's a wealth of info on there as far as natural hair care is concerned too. I just don't see the need for all the 'Ooh, she think she white b.s.'. People are just way to quick to throw the self hatred card out. And it doesn't do any good.

Maybe this has already been said, but you will find some of the most wonderful women in the world over at Nappturality, it is one of the most loving and informative places you want to go if you want to go natural. Some of the women are very opinionated, but not all. Many of them are very open-minded and supportive. I would hate for someone to read some of the threads that get started over here and make generalizations. I stay here because I fit in better here and I have a more LHCF viewpoint, but Nappturality overall provides something that is very much needed, love of and appreciation of nappy, kinky, natural hair. I am very grateful that the site exists. It's not perfect, but nothing is.

This is why I won't ever joing napturality. I get the impression that they are not an openminded bunch and think there way is the only way. Heaven forbid a nappy head want to straighten their hair every once in awhile or all the time. Just call me "whitey"

Here! Here! :clapping: To each his/her own.

Well waaaaaaaaaaaah. on all dis.

Really.......the MODS and ADMIN here should put a stop to any and all hair board bashing unless of course it's LHCF members bashing LHCF. In that case, i'm going to make the assumption this type behavior would be tolerated for all of say ummm.............a minute maybe and that's about as long as the bashing of other boards should be allowed to last.

imma find a report button now and hope that this thread falls into some cyber toilet hole, where it belongs.

I agree with you.

I belong to np.com too but I mostly just lurk. The are waaaay to negative for me. Although I respect the owners reasons for starting the site, I just dont like the idea of the separation of our women based on a "chemical fire cream", if you are a "true nappy" or if you are into twist outs, braid outs........and it goes on. To me thats dumb. We are all women who are trying to achieve healthy hair and most of us are trying to have long hair weather it be relaxed or natural. I just dont see the big deal, hence the reason why I only lurk there occasionally.

I feel like this is a flashback from School Dayz. Jiggaboos and Wannabes... We all need to Wake up and respect each other. This has been going on for too long

Exactly. The NP bashing here can be pretty Jarring. You don't like it. So?There are forums all over the internet which offend me, which have points of views i don't agree with etc. Do i join them? No. Do i browse them? No.
Really what is the point of threads such as these, to bash and mock? Just get on with your day.

i don't think it's appropriate to start bashing other black hair care sites here on LHCF even if their views differ from yours. For many women nappturality is the only place they feel 100% accepted for their hair type. if you don't like their mentality then why still visit the site? just let it be what it is and don't let it concern you

I meant the entire situation, not just this thread or the NP thread... the whole thing....

I couldn't agree with you more.
If someone doesn't like it, then stay away.
I am happy that a site like that exists where we could go to if we chose to.
Lets just quit the division already, there's enough of that in the world as it is.

when i was natural (and had locs), nappturality was my hair bible....i love that site, and still go on it to check up on the progress of some of my friends.

This thread still going eh? I thought the OP tried to have it killed! Glad things haven't gotten ugly in here.

Oh....is that what it was?:perplexed Girl I was hurtin for real!!!
And I really did think I was still "technically" natural. Oh well. I like going over there once in a while for the culture discussions and I still love natural hair. I will always encourage some one to go natural if thats what they really want; but I also realize that its not for everyone including me. But do you think I'm going to announce my change of heart?

not on your life!!:nono:

Re: I'm not for the drama...so this needed to change.

I had written something else to another board about something they wrote about me, about how it's wrong to make these generalizations and whatnot, but thanks to SVT, I have decided it's not worth it, if I'm wrong for being offended, please excuse me. Thank you.

http://www.nappturality.com/index.php?showtopic=109343

And don't read into it, no problems, no drama, just hair growing.

I am so sorry that you had a negotive experience. :hug3:
To be honest I am a member of Nappturality. I have been a member since the site began. It's brought me encouragement, inspiration, information ect. I could go on and on about it. I love it!!! However there's been many "hot topics" that many have said harsh things on. I tried to follow your link, but nothing came up. I don't have the slightest idea what was said, and who said it, but I can only imagine that it hurt you. HOWEVER, many ppl will say dumb hurtful things and it's just perpetuating more hurt for you to put the entire site on blast b/c some ppl you don't know said some dumb stuff and you wanted to get back at them. Now with that being said, maybe you could've pm that person(s) that did the offending and talk between yourselves to get it resolved and if that didn't work, to report them to a moderator or dee. They don't know everythign that happens in every thread, but when you make them aware, they stop it right away. Whoever told you to brush your shoulders off and keep movin had the right idea. Unfortunately ignorance is everywhere even in places that we feel "safe". Hun again I am so sorry that this happened to you, but try to move on and be the bigger person and let it go. :yep:
