After reading some of the unpopular hair opinions (that maybe quite a few us feel but never voice), I found myself agreeing with some. One post mentioned that no vitamin is worth breakouts and hair growing in unnatural places...

So i decided to quit MSM! Fluffier new growth is not worth the fact that i had to order Proactiv when I've never had skin problems other than that one week a month but suddenly I constantly find myself with a few pimples on my chin and forehead...despite the fact that i'm drinking tons of water. And these pimples affect me and my wallet way more than my fluffier new growth ever could.

Lol, what was I thinking? Anybody else change their mind about something?

That's too bad that MSM caused breakouts for you. That did not happen to me, thank goodness, but if it had, I may have stopped using it, as well. MSM has done been great for me!

On the other hand, I stopped using all topical growth aids. My hair has done much better w/o them. It is not growing as fast, but it looks better and I can stretch my relaxers longer. It has been about a month since I stopped using any and I love it.

Good for you Highly Favored 1!

I take MSM, but I started taking it for joint pains rather than hair growth. It does not affect me the way it does you.

I've not used other products mentioned on the forums because they weren't for me.

This thing is about learning what works best. I won't jump on every bandwagon, but I won't knock anyones routine.

I will probaby disregard people saying "X product doesn't work," unless they also say they clarified first.

uhh...hmmm... ok, if I ever texlax my hair (it won't happen) I will call it a relaxer! :)

I think the only reason why people say texlex is to differentiate between those that relax bone straight vs. those that decide to relax all of their hair so that there is still a little wave/curl pattern left and more thickness. No one ever claims that is is not a relaxer. Well, I have never seen anyone do that.

Exactly. :)

So, HoneyDew have you stopped using MN too?

ITA. IMO the term texlaxed does the opposite. Saying "texlaxed" lets people know that hair that looks natural is relaxed. It's not used to pass off relaxed hair as anything but.

No one ever guess this (my airdried texturized hair) is NOT natural. I use the term texlaxed or texturized to let them know it has been processed. My natural texture actually looks a lot like this. The big difference is texturized hair will rollerset straight. So I get to have this or straight hair (like that in my signature) w/o direct heat. If my hair were BSL I'd be in my own personal hair heaven.

Yep, I am not using any growth aids. It did make my hair grow faster, but the faster growth was getting in the way of my hair care routine.

MN did make my hair grow MUCH faster, but I seem to enjoy my hair better when there are longer periods between relaxers.

Just a personal preference.

Well that is why I thought the term texlax came about. A mix of being texturized and relaxed. I know people that texturize and their hair is way more curly that the hair of those that just opt to texlax or are forced to because of their resistant hair.

ITA because they would not say it was texlaxed if they were trying to pretend it was natural, they would just say it's natural.:perplexed

I dont think she meant all of that you guys... As a metetr of fact I didnt see any of what some of you are sayign in her post *sigh* Anyways I probably will never use the term texlax either... AND I will stop saying perm when most of us get relaxers  Iwill stop using topical growth aids because teh simple fact is I dont believe they work at all. I think its the fact that most of the time when people use topical aids they are doing something extra as well (protective styling, less manipulation, etc). I will settle for my normal growth which aint bad to start with :)

Some of us (reads ME) might be responding to the original Unpopular Hair Opinions post. There was some back and forth about people thinking and saying they are natural when they are texturized, like texturized wasn't relaxed or something. So, to get where we are coming from you'd have to have read the other posts. Otherwise, I imagine it does seem strange.
