Time To Stock Up. Wetline Has Changed Their Formula

Going to try to find the blue on the ground tomorrow. I will report back.
Walgreens had the goods! They had the blue version and some small bottles of the old clear version. Go to Walgreens website and search for the product in store. Not every Walgreens carries wetline! They also have it sectioned off in the Hispanic area away from the hair isle.

Also BEWARE: Some of the blue version was reformulated! They had a mix of new and old formula left on the shelf. I will be testing old blue vs. old clear tonight.

Thanks! I found some near me!

A possible substitute? No glycerin or aloe, though.

@MissMusic did some reviews on it:

So I just saw this at my local Dollar Tree. Top three ingredients are the same, and it has mostly the same ingredients as the original wet line gel except for a few.

Tried to upload photos, but got the error.

Here it is : https://www.ebay.com/p/2-Super-LOOK-Extreme-Hold-Styling-GEL-by-Wet-Line-15-87-Oz-Each/1592671918

The ones I got from the Dollar Tree didn't perform anything like the tubs I ordered on Amazon. They're not even the same viscosity. The DT version has no power; I was confused.

I was wondering why my bun wasn't laying down amazingly as usual. Now I realize it was a formula change.

The same with the Shea Moisture purifying mask. I stocked up on those and they are still sitting because they just don't work the same. Then I come here and learn that they've changed that formula too!!! My WORD!!!
Awww, you mad late! I didn't even use the SM masque, but soon as I got the idea to try it, they changed it! I was tight. lol

Okay I tried the new version and I have to say that it does not hold my hair down as well as the old version plus it looks a little dull too. I have to use way more oil for shine than I had to before. Once I finish these few buckets I have in my stash, I won't be repurchasing. Back to the drawing board in search of a really great gel all over again. Smh :nono:.

I basically still can't process the fact that this is happening. We should commission someone to produce more Wetline for us. I'm sure the company will not mind sharing their formula now that they have decided to abandon it.

Did you try the blue? I’m on the way to look for that version right now. This is ridiculous.

I'm in France, so I couldn't even look if I wanted to do so. They don't have that gel here.

I may need to ask my folks in Mexico what they are using today to hold their hair in place. Mexican hair is so heavy and that's why that Wetline gel was so popular there, prior to circa 2006.

If you find out what they are using @Chicoro, please please please let us know okay?

I gotta go to my hood stores for this :look: I need my gel.

In Mexico City, Mexico, it's usually the kids in the 'hood' who drive many of the trends. Then, it depends on what that trend is. If the guys are wearing lots of sculptured hairdo's and styles, we just may be in luck and have a chance to discover a new gel. Interestingly, I learned about Wetline from the guys. I don't have any trips planned to Mexico City, but you never know what can happen, right?!

Super Wet Hair Styling Gel will provide your hair with the moisture it needs to keep your hairstyle looking awesome. This gel does a wonderful job of getting unmanageable hair to lie down. Super Wet Hair Gel great for giving hair a softer feeling while maximizing volume.

Ingredients: Water, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Pure Acrylic Polymer, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance, Propylene Glycol, Edta, D&C Violet 2.

I ordered it and sure hope my hair will like it. I have yet to receive it though so I will update once I've used it.

YES! Let us know.

So after comparing the new and old formula, I am pleasantly surprised (with caveats). For wash and go styling, it will still work for my hair. It takes more products for me to achieve a good wash and go, and my hair has more volume with the new gel. Nonetheless, it is still a better product than others for wash and go styling.

If I plan to slick down my hair, I will need to look elsewhere. It doesn't take away the volume, and leaves some frizz. My full review with a look at multi-day hair can be found here:
