This may be a stupid question.....

but when you take braids and out and you comb out your hair, do you comb it out until it isn't shedding anymore? Do you find that adding weave to the hair makes it shed more or about the same?

[/ QUOTE ] It will shed slightly more depending on your upkeep.

When I take out my braids I use a light detangler on that section and slowly, gently comb out the section I just un braided. Once I finish an entire row I spray detangler and comb all the hair in that section. Once I have them all out I part my hair in 4 sections and SLOWLY comb each section from root to crown with a wide tooth comb.

It is sooooooo important that you comb and detangle BEFORE you wash or you will end up with a matted mess!

I am asking this because my sister had a bad experience and didn't comb her hair out good enough. I helped her take her braid out and told her to comb it out before she washed it. I left after I helped taking the braids out. When I got home she called and said that her hair is matted and she will have to cut it out. She said she combed it out a little bit. That's why I'm asking if you should comb it out until the hairs have stopped "shedding". I'm trying to figure out the problem because I am planning to get braids as well.

Personally I would finger comb only with a bucket of my best detangling conditioner on my hair

I think simplycee's method is a good one. And no you don't have to comb out till all the shedding stops as you will end up with a few hairs in the comb everytime, remember the hair hasn't been combed out in a long time so all the hair that couldn't get to do it's normal thing, will -- now that it's free. Just make sure you detangle, get all those pesky knots out! To cut down on the shedding I use Nutrine Garlic Shampoo for my second shampoo, the first one is always CON as that detangles and softens my hair like no other. I also use the Nutrine Garlic Conditioner, it has aloe and castor oil so it helps with softening and the garlic cuts down the shedding dramatically.
