Ok, after my little "experiment" in an earlier thread, I decided to BC 7/21/10. I was a month and a half shy of my one year transition. (Mistake number one). I did it myself (mistake number two). I totally hacked my hair :wallbash:. But I'm glad I did it. Couldn't put all the pics in so the rest are in the Fotki.

I totally freaked out because my hair was not as long as I thought it was and threw in some kinky twists LOL. When they come out I will be all over you guys for help on styles and what to do with my newly natural hair

Looks like you have a head full of healthy hair! Grow w/ patience and TLC. I'm afraid that just as you discovered, my hair will not be as long as I'm used to when I snip the rest of my relaxed ends so I'm resigned to transition until more of the hair outside my scrunchy is natural. At this rate, it will be next year this time before I take the plung.

Congrats on your successful transition!

You have a thick head of hair to work with. I like it! You have enough length to make some super cute styles. Play with it and have fun. It looks great! Congrats on being natural!!!

First of all congratulations!!!!

When I did the BC I couldn't put it in a ponytail without the assistance of 100 bobby pins LOL and I was like OH NO!! But eventually it grew and I was ok. Headbands became my best friends LOL

Just keep playing around your hair, become a PJ and have fun experimenting!

Congrats to you. The BC is a big step and I agreer with the others, your hair looks healthy. Happy hair growing!

Listen to Boston Maria, and you see how far she's come.:yep: I did my bc last Aufust after a 2 year stretch. It was the best decision I ever made (hair wise). I thought I was a PJ before, but now I'm certifiable.:spinning:

I'm enjoying trying new products and hairstyles...as well as, figuring out what works for me. Have fun with your new look. Experiment and get to know your new texture.:yep:

BTW, that last pic is really cute.

Thanks so much ladies... I needed to hear that more than you know. That last pic is a flexi rod set that everybody seemed to love but me...I guess I was still no where near used to what my hair was like once chopped LOL

 that's funny.

congratulations OP! don't worry, most people get "texture shock" or "length shock" when they first BC so what you're feeling is completely normal. Once your hair starts grazing SL, you'll miss the days when your hair was shorter so enjoy it while it lasts. :)

Congrats! You have lovely hair. When I bc, I felt my hair was too short but now I kind of miss those days. I wish I would have experimented more w/ styles during that time.

OMG - thank you so much for giving it a name - something that I can understand!! I'm deffinatley suffering from both texture and length shock - Freaked out and put in some kinky twists...LOL
