OKay call me lazy I did a search and came up with nada for what I need. You ladies that go to the gym on the regular how are you dealing with your hair while you work out? My hair is relaxed and I wash it frequently throughout the week. I just don't want to have to end up washing more than I should because it looks like a sweaty mess.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I'm wondering about this myself. I'm tex-laxed, so any sweating involves nappy roots and straight ends. Not cute on me.

But my ? for you is this" You said that you wash frequently during the week. Are you rollersetting each time you wash, or are you doing a wash and go? This is one of the reasons that I don't work out more (and laziness, ha ha). What is your routine?

The last thing I want to do is flat iron with sweaty hair.

TIA!

Co-signing. I think my hair hair has hit a setback due to increased workout sessions. I have been working out for 3 weeks straight now. At 5 days a week. My hair seems to be more nappy in the roots even with CO washes and styling is just impossible b/c of time. I don't know what good hairstyles there are and if there's a process to be done to your hair is you workout frequently.

I wrap mines while I work out. Making sure not to get any hair on my hairline (where I sweat). If you are worried about tension from combing try finger combing it.

You may have nappier roots because of all the working out and CO washes. Some people find CO washing makes their hair grow faster. Many also say that working out=more circulation to the scalp=faster growing hair.

I would ponytail/bun it after CO washing post-workout if I exercised in the morning.
If at night I would CO wash, put it up in bantu knots and let it dry while I slept, finishing off any dampness in the morning under the dryer while I ate breakfast.

Ooo Great suggestions! I workout at night usually around 10pm with one of my friends. After CO washes I just let my hair hang loose and airdry in no style...which I think isn't good. The bantu knots are definantly something I should try. Does your hair come out okay in the morniing afterward usually?:D

I just gave up and got my hair braided this week. I sweat all over my head so once I have more than 3 or 4 weeks of newgrowth, there's no way to maintain my hairstyle after working out. I'm going to keep my hair braided until I'm done losing my post-baby weight and figure things out from there.

Instead of washing it, you could try just rinsing the sweat out with plain water or a co-wash.

I agree with balisi.....
I usually put conditioner on my hair prior to my work out, and rinse it out afterward. I airdry, so I just pull it back in a ponytail, moisturize my ends, tuck them under and go. My hair seems to love the co washes, especially my new growth.

Nikki, I posted this on another forum. I hope this helps:

I'm not good at directions but I can help you the best I can. First of all You will need a wide toothed comb. The longer the hair the wider the comb teeth shall be. Such as this one on the right or the left (not the middle one) ->

Comb all of your hair down around your head. To put this is better words make yourself look like Cousin IT (hair covering your face. Sort of like her hair is (how its down all over even covering her face). If you have to put

small part on the top of you hair then you should do so.
Secondly, I never wrap my roots. This may sound stupid but try just wrapping your ends. Hold the top of your head so you won't get the roots (palm on scalp).

And try wrapping around your hand, making sure to keep one hand on top of you head so the center/top won't move.

Start in the middle and comb the hair over (keep holding the top of your head). Keep combing the hair over until the hair is wrapped aroung your head like a bee-hive. Still holding the top of your head make sure all the hair is around. Take your hands and smooth the wrap together, like you are drawing/massaging a circle (with your palms) around your head. Apply your scarf. I hope that helps you. Let me know if you got any questions.
