So, I've been working out everyday for the past few weeks and since I sweat a lot, I've also been co washing my hair everyday. Do you ladies wash everyday or do you skip some? Is it okay to not wash and leave all that sweaty, nasty, salt in your hair for more than one day? Just wondering b/c I'm getting sick of washing my hair everyday!!! It also is taking a toll on my styles...Maybe there will be a benefit down the line but I have yet to see it...

Thanks!

I cowash every day I work out. If I don't my head itches because I sweat a lot. I don't have a problem with hairstyles because I wig it during the week. Before I started taking care of my hair, I would skip washing after working out because I was wearing a sew in. My hair was so dry and my scalp was itchy back then.

I also co-wash daily. Not washing (or co-washing) my hair daily when I workout would be like not taking a shower daily. I just think it's nasty.

I generally co-wash, however, I do find that I can only do so many in a week before my style suffers as well. So on occasion, I will definitely simply rinse my scalp then reapply my leave-in and oils/moisturizer. I also rearranged my schedule so that my two rest days are mid week, so I wash and DC on Weds and rest on Thurs.

If you can, consider twisting your hair before your workout, so that a quick rinse should do the trick. Let it dry and the next day you have a twistout hair style.

I tend to rinse my scalp then use a smidgen of conditioner, mostly for the ends, then rinse. I use cool water so I don't generally get tangling or anything either. Also, I use a very thin conditioner for this. Nexxus had one that I liked a lot but I can't even find it in the stores anymore. It had a PH of 3. (don't know what happened to it though) Now I use whatever the heck I got on hand:lol: I don't dig around in my scalp and manipulate the hair as its really not necessary, I reserve that action for wash days. after my rinse off, I moisturize and and wrap it up for the night.

I personally can't handle having old sweat in my head as it makes my scalp tight and itchy but I also sweat a lot in the gym. I'm a bunner if that helps.

i am in the gym four days a week and i shampoo once or twice a week depending on how my hair feels. im trying to increase to six days a week and i still will probably only shampoo twice a week.

I wash my hair once a week and if I've been sweating a whloe lot in my scalp (which is rare for me) I might throw a mid week co wash in there, but theres no way I would co wash or otherwise everyday cause the manipulation would break my hair off.

I stay on my normal wash regimen which is to wash once - maybe twice a week. I don't feel like fooling with my hair everyday, washing, detangling, twisting and whatnot. :nono: My hair hasn't suffered at all. I'm going to assume you're natural from your avi choice and screen name. I leave my hair in twists (when I'm not in braids or kinky twists) all week. It lets my scalp dry quickly.

You can most definitely get away with washing once a week, maybe twice a week. it really just depends on how squeamish you are, your hair will not suffer either way. If I wash once a week, I rub a cotton ball with witch hazel on my scalp about mid week (I am a 5-6 days a week exerciser). Sometimes I dont feel like washing my hair every day, sometimes I do.

I cowash my hair after every workout (which is atleast 5 days/week). I just prefer to do this; I like washing my hair, and my hair seems to be thriving.

I work out 4 to 7 days a week, more like 6 to 7. I do cardio and intense workout sessions, so I sweat. Here are somethings that I picked up over the years, internet, and other wise.

1. I pin up my hair when working out but when done, I immediately take it down and "air out" my hair to let my scalp dry.

2. I apply a liquid leavin to my scalp when I get home to refresh my scalp. In the past I have used aveda brillant spray (this was a pinkskate reccomendation) or AO egyptian henna clean rinse, or aloe vera by its self). Then I'll put a scarf around my egdes and shower.

3. Remove scarf seal ends (I will often shower without a shower cap as I like the steam). Done.

This is the same reguardless of a curled style of flat iron. Don't soak your hair with product just dab your scalp. Use a light oil to seal. And if I think everything it fine up there sometimes I do nothing. The biggest thing I find is step one. HTH

I work out 5 days per week. I CW 2x week, and water rinse another 1-2x per week, depending on how much I've sweat and how my hair feels. My hair LOVES water, so this works fine for me. Also, my scalp is not especially sensitive, so even though I'm a very heavy sweater, I don't have to shampoo often and my scalp doesn't get itchy or irritated. The twice weekly cowashes are all that's needed to keep it clean.

My hair is in a braided/twisted up PS 95% of the time, so I don't have to worry about the constant manipulation from washing. If my hair was loose, the frequent washing would definitely lead to breakage for me.

HTH

I co-wash every other day and just rinse with plain water in between. You have to get the salt out or it will dry your hair out and cause problems. My hair was badly damaged four years ago because of not rinsing my hair after working out (stylist's advice). I learned the hard way. ALWAYS RINSE YOUR HAIR AFTER WORKING OUT!
