I just did this today except I pre-pooed with Aubrey Organics GPB and an egg on dry un washed hair. Next I shampooed and deepconditioned with a moisturizing conditioner using the same soaked towel method.
After that i wet wrapped my hair and when i took it down I had the same results, strong but still soft and moisturized. This is going to be a permanent part of my regime from now on. thanks : )

YAYAY! Did anyone try this over the weekend?
I'll be doing this next wash day. Usually, my hair is a little bit stiffer (doesn't move as much) when I do my protein treatments the old way. I'm excited about trying this.:)

I tried this last week with my ORS hair mayo and loved it. As a matter of fact I'm doing it right now. Thanks for this info.

Okay ladies...still sorta confused...I have a couple questions...

1) I have never heard of ORS mayo. What does ORS stand for? And where can I get some??

2) So are you using this mayo as a protein treatment or a deep conditioner??

3) Macherieamour, If you are using this as a protein treatment, does this mean you no longer deep condition with the keracare product under dryer? You mentioned conditioning in the shower but for only a couple minutes.

4) And if I understand correctly, you ladies apply the damped hot towel to the hair slathered in mayo? I also understand that some still use a plastic cap and apply the hot towel over the cap? Which do you feel creates better results?

5) Has anyone tried this with protein treatments such as DRC 28 or aphogee?

Thanks in advance ladies! !

I can help you with your first question
ORS stands for Organic Root Stimulator
and it can be found at any beauty supply store or store that has sells ethnic hair products

Thanks macherieamour :) . I will definately be trying this. It gets old hopping in and out of the shower for pooing and rinsing out condish. (If I do a protein treatment I have to get in 3 times since i follow with a dc. :perplexed ) I cant wait to try this!!

I had to clarify this weekend so I tried it on Sunday.

so ok,I didn't have anymore plastic caps left so I used a whole foods plastic bag:lol:

I put the damp towel in a bowel an put it in the microwave for one minute

Since I'm experimenting with oils still, I added a little amla oil (about a teaspoon) and some brahimi (1 teaspoon) to my usual Deep Conditioner mix. ( 1 ORS Pak, 2 drops of lemongrass e/o, 2 tablespoons of Keraphix, 2 tablespoons of Ensure) I left out the coconut oil this time around.

I put the conditioner in and wrapped the towel around my head ( which was about the size of a hand towel) then put the bag on (good thing I didn't have to go outside:lol: ) But it felt like a total steam bath ontop of my head. and that lemongrass oil does smell good if you don't use too much (two drops is more than enough)

The heat stayed in a good 20 minutes.

Then came the rinse out with lukewarm water.. WOW it was awesome!

My hair was extremely shiny afterwards, very soft (but really strong) and very few strands came out in the comb. I also airdry and it dried so soft that I had handinhairitis really bad!

So the experiment was very worthwhile!!

I'll agree that this would work with any conditioner, no matter what it is. I really do think it matters what your heat source is though. I can't sit under a drier thinking that I'm going to do anything great for my hair (it really dosen't:ohwell: . I don't know that I would do it this way all the time (because its time consuming) but its amazing what it does for you if you have a lot of new growth.

And if you have a lot of hair the whole foods bag may not be such a bad thing plus, thats considered recycling right?:look:

I used a hot towel for the first time with a deep conditioner, and my hair came out TERRIFIC!!! The best part about it was that I don't have any shedding at all....thank you macharieamore!

Ok I tried the hot towel thing last friday but over my shower cap...going to try directly on my hair tonight when I co-wash.

If this is the way to eliminate shedding I will be sooooooooooooooo happy!

Question: Is everyone doing this before they shampoo??? Or will it work the same after the shampoo?

I'll let you know how my cowash works out...now to pick which conditioner I will use....hmmmmm:confused:

ORganic Root Stimulator- you can get it at the drugstore:)

2) So are you using this mayo as a protein treatment or a deep conditioner??

I use it as a protein- its mild but always made my hair really strong

3) Macherieamour, If you are using this as a protein treatment, does this mean you no longer deep condition with the keracare product under dryer? You mentioned conditioning in the shower but for only a couple minutes.

When I rinsed it out, my hair didnt feel like it needed a conditioner. Id try it both ways and see what works for you:)

4) And if I understand correctly, you ladies apply the damped hot towel to the hair slathered in mayo? I also understand that some still use a plastic cap and apply the hot towel over the cap? Which do you feel creates better results?

This is how I look at it. Conditioner is absorbed more in dry hair. Imagine a sponge on a spill. A dry sponge placed on a spill will absorb more then a wet sponge, right? The steam from the towel raises the cuticle and allows it to penetrate deeper. The towel covered with plastic prevents the heat form escaping.
5) Has anyone tried this with protein treatments such as DRC 28 or aphogee?

Nope not yet.
Thanks in advance ladies! !

So glad you guys tried this. Its sooo part of my regimen now. My hair feels so soft and strong without being weighed down :)

maybe it's just me, i've tried this several times and i CAN NOT fit a towel under my plastic cap. :perplexed
are ya'll using small towels, like wash cloths?
or fullsize bath towels?
or should i just do like someone mentionned and cover my hair w/ a plastic grocery bag?

I tried this last night when I cowashed. I used Herbal Essences in the pink bottle (just wanted to try it out and see how it worked for a cowash...love the smell). Anyway I ran a hand towel under hot water and squeezed out some of the water so it was left damp. I then wrapped the towel of my head that was already covered with conditioner. I then put a plastic shower cap over that. I let it sit on my hair for 30-45 minutes (I could have rinsed out sooner...but got distracted), went in the shower and rinsed it out.

My hair was so moisturized. I lost very few hairs as I set my hair in a ponytail rollerset. Airdried overnight. This morning I didn't lose any hairs when I took out the rollers and fingercombed my hair for work.

I think this is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more sitting under a hot dryer with conditioner.

Imagine I did this with a cheapie conditioner...it's going to work even better when I use a better conditioner like my humecto or Kenra. I'm probably going to try the mayo next though.

Thanks girl for recommending this.

ahhh i can see it now...

just dont know wheter to use the motions cpr or buy the ors mayo. i mean, it does seem better ingredient wise. but then again i have some cpr left...then again motions did hurt my hair!it was just too heavy !!

hmmmmmmmmmmm

any suggestions?

plus, after that it will be of course my keracare routine... rinsing off my humecto with cold water using this regime sounds like its gonna be a dream for my hair. i think i'm gonna save this to when i finally decide to colour and heatstyle my hair...which is far away but i like 2 plan these things :D

Girl, use what ur got!!! But, Im just a cheapie so of course thats what im gonna say.

Nah, but I think someone did this wish CPR and had great results:)

hey honeydew,

i just discovered ojon after almost a year away from the board. i love it! do you use the entire line? the revitalizer is the bomb!!

OK, My hair just came out AMAZZZAAZAZING!

I pre-pood with ORS Mayo, slathering it allll over dry, unwashed hair. I took a steaming hot towl (i left it in the sink to soak) and wrapped my hair with it and then put a shower cap over it for 15 mins.

I then shampoo'd it and slathered on some conditioner while still in the shower for a few mins. Even when I rinsed out the shampoo, my hair already felt like cotton.

I set as per usual but when I took my rollers out, my hair felt soooo soft, strong and moisturized:) There was NO breakage, even when removing my rollers:) And the shine was awesome.

I didnt do anything different from my routine other than this, so Im sure its the pre-poo hot towel treatment.

It also cut my routine time in half. Instead of pre-pooing with oil for an hour, shampoo and deep cond under a dryer for 1/2 hour and THEN rinsing it out, I only had to jump in the shower once:)

Lastly, this is a perfect way to reap the benefits of a protein treatment without the dry hard coated feeling (if that happens to you). I think the hot towel really makes a difference. It seemed to absorb so much more.

Im SOO happy:)

oh geesh!

i hopped in this thread a few weeks ago but i did not bother reading the WHOLE regimen :ohwell: I rushed out, brought some hair mayo from Africa's best or pride or something like that and my hair is hard. it's dry like brittle. (that's what i get for not paying attention)

I'm going to do it right... no cutting corners.

I've purchase the REAL ORS  and will try your method this afternoon.

I have to do some damage control. I'll post the results later.

~Dsylla

ETA - I did not do anything with a towel - i applied that hair mayo crap from africa's best after shampooing. I left it on for 7 minutes.

Okay, I'm about to try this right now, I have some Africa's Best Hair Mayo. I'll be back w/the results, I have a good feeling I'm gonna love this for the summer, no sitting under the dryer, oh God please let this work.

ETA: So I tried it earlier like I said and actually had the ORS Hair Mayo, I enjoyed it so much that I decided to just rinse it out and added some Humectress as my leave in and let it air dry in a bun. My hair is sooo soft but the strength is still there. I'm going to switch my regimen around to using this as a Co wash once a wk, and use shampoo every other wk. as long as my results continue to be postive I'll do this only for the summer. I'll also add daily rinsing to my regimen or atleast the extra hot summer days.
I tried exactly how you stated on my daughter who is transitioning (5 months so far) and her hair was bangin afterward, I love the way it made her NG and relaxed hair feel, this will save us from the hooded dryer this summer, Thanks for sharing girl.

i don't think my hair likes hair mayonaisse of any brand :perplexed

i've tried africa's best and ORS. the first time i used both products my hair was nice and soft. The 2nd time my hair was dry like straw. I had to reapply heaps of conditioner to get it halfway combable (is that a word).

perhaps it's protein overload?

Did you wash your protein out with shampoo before applying the conditioner?:)

I washed it out with CON the last time which was yesterday. My hair still feel brittle and dry. I was afraid to comb it! Detangling while wet in the shower was no easy task!

I'm going back to what works for me. Lekair cholesterol (sp).

I asked because this technique is about applying the protein on dry hair, washing it all out after a few minutes with shampoo, then apply a good moisturizing conditioner and rinsing that out. It's doing the protein differently, as a pre-poo so there is no brittle, dry hair.:)

So I tried this last night for the second time. First time it did not come out well. This time...

On dry hair, slathered hair with EVOO
Dr. Miracles Stimulating Oil on edges and nape
ORS Mayo all over hair, epecially on ponytail area

Left this on w/a warm towel that I covered w/a plastic cap and then my Purple Self heat cap for 40 mins. I could feel Dr. Miracles Oil stimulating my scalp...it felt so nice and cool.

First rinsed under hot water of shower for a few minutes and then shampooed w/a mixture of KeraCare Detangling & ORS Aloe Shampoo
Shampooed a second time w/KeraCare Detangling
For once my hair was not tangling.

Then i applied KeraCare Humecto (this bottle had glycerin added to it) and Nexxus Humectress just to ponytail area. Left this on for 40 mins w/plastic cap.

After I rinsed the conditioner out, my hair felt great. There was barely any tangling after I applied my leave ins. I lost a LOT less hair too. I can't wait to try this again.
